Overview

San Jose Mineta International Airport (SJC) is the commercial airport serving Silicon Valley, owned and operated by the City of San Jose as a self-supporting enterprise and located about 3 miles from downtown San Jose, California. The airport opened as San Jose Municipal Airport in 1949 and is named for former US Transportation Secretary Norman Mineta; it offers nonstop domestic and international flights, parking garages, rental car and rideshare services, a lounge and a general aviation area. Airport staff are City of San Jose employees working in operations, maintenance, planning, finance and customer service, and the airport also runs air service development and volunteer programmes.
