HAL Laboratory is a Japanese studio founded in 1980 that has developed almost exclusively for Nintendo platforms. It created the Kirby series and the Super Smash Bros games and continues to build first party titles from studios in Tokyo and Yamanashi. Several of its former staff have gone on to lead Nintendo itself.
