Kapok Japan is a Japanese fashion brand that manufactures apparel and accessories using kapok, a lightweight natural fiber harvested from the seed pods of the kapok tree native to Southeast Asia. After research and development with a major Japanese textile manufacturer the company succeeded in converting kapok into a usable sheet, enabling production of lightweight, moisture-absorbing and heat-generating garments. It targets the sustainable fashion market in Japan and seeks to reduce apparel industry waste by prioritizing close-to-source manufacturing and supply-chain transparency from producers to consumers.
