Overview
The Opportunity Alliance is a nonprofit community action agency in southern Maine that provides crisis support, mental health and substance use care, family support, early childhood education and access to basic needs, headquartered in South Portland. It was incorporated in 1965 as the community action agency for Cumberland County and today runs the Maine Crisis Line and 988, 211 Maine, heating assistance, WIC, Head Start and adult residential programs. It hires Head Start teachers and family advocates, call and crisis specialists, residential direct care staff and homeless case managers.
