Overview
Polar Star Space is a Japanese space-tech venture spun out of Hokkaido University that provides data-driven remote sensing and problem-solving services for agriculture, fishery, resources and energy, and disaster prevention. It develops and operates ultra-small satellites equipped with super multi-spectral cameras and combines satellite data with ground and drone measurements from a proprietary smartphone spectroscope and drone-mounted multispectral cameras to build high-precision BRDF spectral libraries for crops across seasons, angles and solar positions. Polar Star Space delivers on-demand, flexible high-precision remote sensing and analytics for commercial and government customers to support crop health monitoring, harvest prediction, lesion detection, optimized fertilization and pesticide use, and broader resource and disaster-mitigation applications.
