Overview

Rapidus is a Japanese semiconductor manufacturer founded in 2022 with backing from the government and a group of major corporations. It aims to produce two nanometre logic chips in Hokkaido using technology developed with IBM and imec, restoring advanced foundry capability in Japan. The company is building its pilot line in Chitose with mass production targeted for the second half of the decade.
