Overview
Regional Fish Institute is an academic spin-out from Kyoto University that develops genome-edited fish and full-cycle land-based aquaculture technologies to dramatically shorten breed improvement timelines. Its commercial products include genome-edited sea bream and tiger puffer, which are the first and only genome-edited animal foods commercially marketed in the world. The company is advancing more than 20 breeding pipelines and promotes smart land aquaculture through an open-innovation network of over 70 academic and corporate partners, serving domestic and international seafood and aquaculture markets.
