Ronald Susilo, originally from Jakarta, moved to Singapore in 1993 at the age of 14 to continue his studies, enrolling at Anglo Chinese School (Independent). Although he had been playing badminton since he was eight, it was at ACS(I) that he truly discovered his potential in the sport.
