Overview
Metrocentre is a large indoor shopping and leisure centre in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, near Newcastle upon Tyne in North East England, with its centre management offices on site. The centre opened in 1986 and holds more than 270 stores and around 60 places to eat, alongside a cinema, family attractions and the adjoining Metro Retail Park. Most jobs at the site are with its individual retailers, restaurants and leisure operators, while the centre management team employs staff in operations, security, cleaning, customer service and marketing.
