GTRK Karelia is the state television and radio broadcasting company of the Republic of Karelia, based in Petrozavodsk and on air since April 1959. It produces regional news and programming for the Rossiya 1 and Rossiya 24 channels and for the Radio Rossii and Mayak radio networks, covering society, incidents, sport, the economy, medicine, ecology and culture. Its first broadcasts reached around 300 black-and-white television sets in Petrozavodsk, and the company now serves the whole republic.
