Overview
The Web3 Foundation is a Swiss non-profit founded in 2017 in Zug to fund research and development of decentralised web technologies. It supports the Polkadot and Kusama networks, runs a long-running grants programme, and finances work on cryptography, consensus and peer-to-peer networking. The foundation is a research and funding body rather than a product company, and it deliberately delegates engineering to independent teams.
