This role provides hands-on technical expertise, supervises and supports maintenance team members, coordinates departmental workflow, and assists in the day-to-day leadership of the Engineering & and operational efficiency.\nWhat You'll Do\nLeadership & Team Development\nAssist with the daily supervision, direction, and coordination of maintenance team members.\nCommunicate clear departmental objectives, priorities, and quality standards.\nDelegate work assignments and monitor productivity and completion of tasks.\nProvide coaching, guidance, and performance feedback to support team development.\nFoster a positive, inclusive, and engaging work environment that encourages teamwork and accountability.\nMaintenance & Operations\nPerform and oversee general repair and maintenance of hotel facilities, equipment, and systems.\nCoordinate preventive maintenance programs to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.\nTroubleshoot building systems and equipment issues and ensure timely corrective action.\nAssist with capital improvement projects, renovations, and special maintenance initiatives.\nEnsure tools, equipment, and maintenance areas are maintained in a safe and organized condition.\nGuest & Service Excellence\nDemonstrate a guest-first mindset by anticipating needs and resolving maintenance-related concerns promptly.\nSupport operational departments by responding quickly and effectively to maintenance requests.\nIdentify opportunities to improve the guest experience through facility enhancements and preventative maintenance efforts.\nSafety & Compliance\nEnsure compliance with all company policies, safety procedures, and applicable regulations.\nMaintain a safe working environment and promote safe work practices throughout the department.\nSupport compliance with OSHA, WHMIS (where applicable), fire safety, environmental, and workplace safety requirements.\nParticipate in safety inspections, training, and incident prevention initiatives.\nOther Duties\nPerform other duties and special projects as assigned.\nWhat Success Looks Like\nHotel facilities are maintained in a safe, clean, and operational direction, coaching, and support.\nSafety standards and regulatory requirements are consistently met.\nDepartmental operations support a positive guest and employee experience.\nRequired Qualifications\nEducation & Experience\nHigh school diploma or equivalent required.\nMinimum one (1) trade certification or qualification in Refrigeration, HVAC, Electrical, or Plumbing.\nMinimum one (1) year of Journeyman-level experience in one or more skilled trades.\nPrior supervisory or lead-hand experience in hotel, commercial, or facilities maintenance preferred.\nTechnical Knowledge\nStrong knowledge of building systems, preventive maintenance practices, and repair procedures.\nDemonstrated knowledge of tools, equipment, and materials used in maintenance and repair work.\nUnderstanding of health and safety regulations, safe work practices, and hazard prevention.\nSkills & Competencies\nStrong leadership and team development skills.\nExcellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.\nAbility to prioritize multiple tasks and respond effectively in a fast-paced environment.\nProfessional demeanor and commitment to service excellence.\nPhysical ability to perform maintenance duties, including lifting, climbing, bending, and extended periods of standing or walking.\nAbility to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.\nDemonstrates Coast Hotels' Core Values and thrives in a culture of accountability.\nMust-Have Requirements\nRefrigeration experience is required.\nCurrent Refrigeration certification/license applicable to the jurisdiction.\nEPA Section 608 Certification (Universal preferred).\nValid trade certification in Refrigeration, HVAC, Electrical, or Plumbing.\nJourneyman-level experience in a skilled trade discipline.\nPreferred Certifications\nEPA Section 608 Universal Certification\nHVAC Certification\nElectrical or Plumbing License/Certification\nForklift Certification\nFirst Aid/CPR Certification\nWHMIS Certification\nLockout/Tagout (LOTO) Training\nThis position is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on maintenance
