We offer one of the industry’s widest portfolios of power options, including 100% battery-electric, diesel-electric hybrid, CNG, and clean diesel. \nENC is committed to revitalizing American manufacturing through innovation, customer focus, and the delivery of high-quality vehicles that keep communities connected, supported, and moving forward. \nEngineer III, Powertrain\nLocation: Riverside, CA\nSalary Range: $85,000 - $115,000\nPosition Summary\nOversees the design, development, implementation, and analysis of powertrain & drivetrain components and systems relating to heavy duty vehicles, specifically transit buses. Typically performs multiple engineering-related tasks in various assignments within the organization. Has broad knowledge of engineering procedures and assists in the resolution of complex problems. May guide and train less experienced engineers. Requires a bachelor's degree of engineering.\nKey Responsibilities\nLeads the design, development, execution, and implementation of powertrain & drivetrain components and systems related to engines, transmissions, traction motors, batteries, shocks, air bags, pan hard rods, sway bars and various other powertrain & drivetrain components for heavy duty vehicles (i.e. transit buses).\nUses CAD (Computer Aided Design) software to lead the development of the design of powertrain & drivetrain components, to model 3D designs, and to produce detailed 2D engineering drawings.\nResponsible for fulfilling customer requirements (i.e., work orders) considering design specifications and applications.\nExecute engineering changes through established ECN (engineering change notice) processes and documentation.\nLeads the creation and review of material part specifications and BOM’s (bills of materials).\nDelivers complete engineering packages emphasizing efficiency in the manufacturing process.\nUnderstand manufacturing processes with emphasis on metal fabrication and assemblies.\nVerify designs through use of calculations and other analytical techniques and tools.\nDefine test requirements and interpret test results to validate designs.\nIdentify problems, root causes and be able to define & execute resolutions.\nUnderstand and use lean principles as they apply to manufacturing and business processes.\nPosition Requirements\nBachelor's Degree of Engineering, Engineering Technology, or equivalent education required.\nRequires 4-7 years of related experience.\nCAD software experience (i.e. Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, Creo, or equivalent).\nFamiliar with Cummins IQA Processes.\nKnowledge of Cummins Insite, Allison DOC-Hybrid, & BAE Systems IDS software a plus.\nExperience in research and development of powertrain & drivetrain components and their application into vehicles.\nSkilled in computer simulation, cost estimation, design optimization, design review, engineering analysis & design, feasibility study, mathematical analysis & modeling, prototyping, quality assurance process and reliability analysis.\nSolid PC skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, Teams, and Outlook.\nAbility to read and understand engineering drawings and layout.\nKnowledge of manufacturing industry and vocational standards.\nStrong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to work directly with hourly production employees and leadership concerning manufacturing initiatives and progress updates.\nStrong work ethic, highly motivated, organized, and self-disciplined.\nVersatile, flexible, and willing to work with changing priorities.\nSelf-motivated with the ability to stay on task.\nAbility to effectively prioritize and execute concurrent assignments in a fast-paced environment.\nCapable of effectively presenting information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees in the organization.\nWork Environment\nThis is an onsite position based in Riverside, CA and requires being onsite. \nBenefits\nComprehensive benefits package: Medical (including FSA & HSA), dental, vision, life and disability insurance, EAP, mental health, and wellness programs \n401(k) with employer match \nPaid time off and twelve (12) paid holidays \nEmployee referral program \nCareer growth and development opportunities \nCareer Growth at ENC \nWe believe great careers and leaders are built from within.
