The Technical Design Manager will work closely with Design, Product Development, Production, domestic patternmakers, and international vendors while also managing and mentoring the Technical Design team.\nKey Responsibilities\nLead technical development across swim, active, and lifestyle categories from prototype through production.\n\nManage prototype development and ensure samples, fittings, comments, and approvals stay aligned with seasonal calendars.\n\nDevelop and maintain comprehensive tech packs, including technical sketches, POMs, grade rules, tolerances, construction details, and callouts.\n\nMeasure and evaluate prototype, SMS, PP, and TOP samples for fit, workmanship, construction, fabrication, and overall execution.\n\nLead fit sessions across multiple product categories and drive fit and construction corrections.\n\nEnsure consistency in fit, grading, and construction across the assortment.\n\nCommunicate detailed fit comments and technical direction to domestic and international vendors.\n\nPartner closely with Design, Product Development, and Production to resolve fit, construction, and quality challenges.\n\nEstablish and maintain block libraries and standardized grade rules.\n\nWork closely with domestic patternmakers to create, update, and grade patterns.\n\nBuild and improve technical processes that increase consistency, efficiency, and product quality.\n\nManage and mentor the Technical Design team, including seasonal priorities, workflow, and deliverables.\n\nDevelop the team's technical expertise around construction and brand fit standards.\n\nMaintain accurate tech packs, development trackers, fit comments, and sample status.\n\nBuild strong relationships with vendors, pattern engineers, and cross-functional partners.\n\nQualifications\n7+ years of Technical Design experience.\n\n5+ years of people management experience.\n\nStrong experience across swim, active, knits, wovens, sweaters, dresses, and/or coverups.\n\nExperience with kids' fit.\n\nExpert knowledge of garment construction, grading, fit, and measurement standards.\n\nStrong understanding of fabric behavior, draping, graphics, dye techniques, and multiple fabrication types.\n\nAbility to independently lead fit sessions across multiple product categories.\n\nStrong technical communication skills, including pattern diagrams, technical sketches, fit photos, and construction comments.\n\nExperience working directly with domestic and international patternmakers, factories, and pattern engineers.\n\nComprehensive understanding of the apparel product lifecycle from development through production.\n\nPatternmaking experience is a plus.\n\nExperience with international production required; domestic production experience is a plus.\n\nProficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop.\n\nHighly organized with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.\n\nStrong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.","description_format":"text","description_chars":3384,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":7,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Lifestyle"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-09-23T03:27:36Z"}],"liveness":{"score":52,"band":"ok","label":"Likely open","p_open":1,"p_active":0.516,"p_room":1,"age_days":0,"expected_fill_days":26,"reasons":["conf:2","agency","win:early"],"computed_at":"2026-09-23T05:45:00Z"},"pay":{"stated_usd_annual":150000,"is_top_pay":false},"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/10-what-sets-you-apart-from-other-ag-technical-design-manager","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/10-what-sets-you-apart-from-other-ag-technical-design-manager.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-09-23T20:18:12Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers"}}
