If you'd like to spend more time in the office, we'd be delighted to see you there.\nCore skills we’re looking for to succeed in the role:\nAcademic Background: Minimum 2:1 degree in a numerical discipline such as Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Data Science, Actuarial Science, Physics, Engineering, or a related field. \nAnalytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Strong numerical and analytical ability, with a logical approach to problem-solving and the ability to interpret complex data and identify meaningful insights. \nTechnical Skills: Strong IT and analytical skills, including proficiency in Excel and SQL. Experience with Power BI, or a similar data visualisation platform, is highly desirable. Exposure to Databricks would be advantageous but is not essential. \nData Analysis & Reporting: Experience in data modelling, analysis, and reporting, with the ability to translate data into clear, actionable insights and communicate findings effectively to a range of audiences. \nAttention to Detail: High levels of accuracy and attention to detail, with a commitment to producing reliable and robust analysis. \nLearning Agility: A proactive and curious approach to learning, with the ability to quickly develop new skills, knowledge, and technical expertise.\nWhat’s involved:\nYou’ll contribute to the development and maintenance of the Underwriting Performance Monitoring Suite of MI reports, through creation of new Underwriting reports and enhancing existing reporting functionality.\nYou’ll produce and publish BAU reports to agreed regular refresh schedule to ensure timely business decision making.\nYou’ll produce ad-hoc performance monitoring analysis to answer specific business challenges or surface issues/opportunities for action within team or wider pillar.\nYou’ll create and maintain reporting and underlying data models using tools such as Power BI, Databricks, SAS, SQL\nYou’ll ensure reporting requirements are clearly captured from business stakeholders (both within team and across wider business) \nYou’ll maintain MI best practice, including change control process, and adhere to high-quality coding standards and documentation.\nYou’ll ensure Underwriting Management Information is produced with a level of quality to enable accurate business decision making.\nYou’ll comply with the requirements, and act in accordance with, the Group Code of Conduct and Fitness and Propriety policies at all times\nYou’ll ensure compliance with Company Policies, Values and guidelines and other relevant standards/ regulations at all times,\nYou’ll proactively own personal development - researching and learning about new tools, techniques, and data sources which may benefit the team, under the guidance of the Underwriting MI Manager\nExperience & knowledge\nExperience in use of data visualisation tools such as Power BI\nKnowledge of DAX and Power Query (M) desirable\nExperience with analytical programming languages and packages, such as Databricks, SAS, SQL\nUnderstanding of data analysis principles\nKnowledge of personal lines general insurance preferred\nStrong commercial acumen.\nSkills & Qualifications\nMinimum 2:1 in a numerical undergraduate discipline\nStrong mathematical skills\nGood time management and organisation\nStrong problem-solving mindset, with the ability to adopt a logical approach to solving problems\nData and statistical analysis skills preferred\nStrong IT skills (including ideally Excel, programming and data visualisation skills)\nGood communication skills, both verbal and written\nLogical thinker with solid reasoning ability\nEmphasis on attention to detail and accuracy\nQuick learner\nBehaviours\nAligned to the values of Ambition; Agility; Ownership; Collaboration\nSelf-motivated and enthusiastic\nAn organised and proactive approach\nAbility to work on own initiative and as part of a team\nA flexible approach and positive attitude\nStrives to drive business improvements to contribute to the success of the business\nWe’re looking for someone who can model data effectively, create clear reports, and communicate findings in a way that supports smart decision-making.
