Simple, but it’s not.\nTo do this right, we have to solve robotics, AI, manufacturing - at the same time, at scale, in a form factor that has to be safe enough to live with your family. If you’re inspired by this, you’ll thrive here. We’ve been at this since 2014 and we’re at the point where the hard problems are behind us and the hard work is in front of us.\nNEO is our flagship - a home robot designed to move, learn, and operate in the real world alongside real people. We’re not demoing it - we’re shipping it. We’re excited to meet you, if this excites you.\nIf you’ve spent your career working on problems that matter and want to see them actually reach the world - this is that moment. We’re scaling, we’re hiring with intention, and we need people who want to build something that will genuinely change how humans spend their time - safely creating abundance for all.\nAbout the Team\nThe Manufacturing & Production team is responsible for transforming engineering designs into scalable, repeatable, and high-quality production processes. We bridge product development and manufacturing, ensuring that every component and assembly can be produced efficiently while maintaining the precision and reliability required for humanoid robotics.\nThis team works across machining, electromechanical assembly, automation, quality, supply chain, and production operations to accelerate the transition from prototype builds to high-volume manufacturing.\nYour Charter\nBuild the manufacturing systems that enable humanoid robots to scale.\nYou will own manufacturing processes for critical robotic components and assemblies, taking products from prototype through production. Your role will focus on developing robust machining, assembly, inspection, and validation processes that improve quality, throughput, and repeatability while supporting rapid product iteration.\nYour work will directly impact production readiness, hardware quality, manufacturing efficiency, and the long-term scalability of 1X robotic systems.\nKey Outcomes\nDevelop and release manufacturing processes that consistently deliver high-quality robotic components and assemblies at scale\n\nImprove cycle time, first-pass yield, and process reliability through structured continuous improvement initiatives\n\nDesign and deploy fixtures, tooling, CAM programs, inspection methods, and automation solutions that increase manufacturing efficiency\n\nSuccessfully support NPI programs from prototype builds through production ramp while maintaining manufacturing readiness\n\nEstablish and maintain process controls, quality metrics, and documentation that ensure repeatable production performance\n\nKey Competencies\nStrong manufacturing engineering fundamentals across machining, assembly, tooling, inspection, and process development\n\nDeep understanding of DFM, production scaling, and manufacturing problem-solving\n\nStrong analytical skills with experience applying SPC, quality systems, and root-cause methodologies\n\nHands-on engineering mindset with the ability to move effectively between the factory floor and technical design discussions\n\nStrong collaboration and communication skills across engineering, quality, operations, and supply chain teams\n\nMinimum Requirements\nBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field\n\n5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience supporting precision mechanical or electromechanical products\n\nExperience with CAM programming, fixture design, tooling development, and precision machining processes\n\nStrong understanding of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and production process development\n\nExperience integrating electromechanical assemblies into production environments\n\nFamiliarity with GD&T, tolerance stack analysis, CMM inspection, and precision measurement techniques\n\nExperience collaborating with design engineering, quality, production, and supply chain organizations\n\nProficiency with CAD tools, PLM systems, ERP systems, and manufacturing documentation workflows\n\nPreferred Skills\nExperience manufacturing robotic actuators, joints, motion-control systems, or other precision electromechanical products\n\nExperience operating in high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environments with rapid design iteration\n\nFamiliarity with automation, lights-out machining, or advanced manufacturing technologies\n\nExperience applying Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or structured continuous improvement methodologies\n\nExperience supporting factory layout development, workstation design, and material flow optimization\n\nExperience supporting products through NPI, validation builds, and production ramp-up activities\n\nWhat does a successful 1X Team Member look like?\nTeam members at 1X who thrive here are builders. They move fast, own their work completely, and treat time like it’s the one thing you can’t get back - because it is. They say what they mean, finish what they start, and hold themselves to a standard before anyone has to ask. We push each other to be better, and we do it with honesty and respect.\nSuccessful Manufacturing Engineers at 1X are highly execution-oriented and deeply connected to the factory floor. They understand that great manufacturing systems are built through rigorous attention to detail, constant iteration, and close collaboration with the people building the product every day. They solve problems quickly, drive continuous improvement, and take ownership of outcomes from prototype through production.\nCompensation Range\n$105,000 - $220,000 + Equity\nBenefits\nComprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage\n\nGenerous paid time off, company holidays, and parental leave\n\n401(k) plan with company match (100% on the first 3% of contributions, 50% on the next 2%)\n\nFlexible Spending Accounts (FSA) and Health Savings Accounts (HSA) options\n\nCommuter benefits (transit and parking)\n\nShort-term and long-term disability, and life insurance\n\nEmployee Assistance Program (EAP) for mental health, financial, and personal support\n\nOnsite snacks and catered lunches\n\nEqual Opportunity Employer\n1X is an Equal Opportunity Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, ancestry, citizenship, age, marital status, medical condition, genetic information, disability, military or veteran status, justice system impact, or any other characteristic protected under applicable federal, state, or local law.","description_format":"text","description_chars":6668,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":5,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"bachelor","optional":false},"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":["Equity","Life insurance","Parental leave"],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Robotics AI","Humanoid Robots"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-09-28T22:36:37Z"}],"liveness":{"score":90,"band":"hot","label":"Hiring now","p_open":1,"p_active":0.903,"p_room":1,"age_days":2,"expected_fill_days":84,"reasons":["conf:11","velocity","win:early"],"computed_at":"2026-10-01T05:45:00Z"},"pay":{"stated_usd_annual":220000,"is_top_pay":true},"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/1x-technologies-manufacturing-engineer-2","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/1x-technologies-manufacturing-engineer-2.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-01T19:06:04Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","usage":{"tier":"crawler","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":1544,"day_limit":5000,"remaining_today":3456,"minute_limit":60,"resets_at":"2026-10-02T00:00:00Z"}}}
