We partner closely with manufacturing and operations leaders to hire the technicians and skilled tradespeople whose craftsmanship, precision, and problem-solving make that possible.\nYour Charter\nThe mission of this role is to build the skilled trades teams that enable 1X to scale production. You will own recruiting from first outreach through start date, running the hiring events that bring hundreds of candidates through our doors, identifying exceptional hands-on talent, and helping hiring managers make confident decisions as manufacturing needs evolve.\nKey Outcomes\nDeliver hires against agreed manufacturing plans for roles such as assembly, electrical, test, quality, and maintenance technicians, as well as machinists.\n\nRun hiring events that convert at scale: strong show rates, same-day interview decisions, offers within days, and candidates kept engaged from screen through start date.\n\nBuild reliable candidate pipelines through trade schools, apprenticeship programs, community organizations, referrals, paid channels, and local outreach.\n\nAlign hiring managers on practical skills and clear evaluation criteria, using AI-assisted pre-screening, structured interviews, and role-relevant assessments to identify exceptional craftsmanship and troubleshooting ability.\n\nUse pipeline conversion, show rates, offer acceptance, start rates, and early retention to find bottlenecks, improve hiring results, and keep leaders informed.\n\nKey Competencies\nDistinguishes the top 10% of skilled trades talent from the top 40%.\n\nCuriosity about how things are built, with the ability to probe for evidence of precision, safe work practices, and hands-on problem-solving.\n\nResourcefulness in reaching skilled tradespeople who may not be active on traditional recruiting platforms.\n\nCredibility with hiring managers and candidates, including the judgment to challenge assumptions and present a balanced assessment of each candidate.\n\nOwnership, urgency, and the operational discipline to run high-volume events and many openings without dropping candidates.\n\nMinimum Requirements\nExperience recruiting skilled trades or technician talent in manufacturing, industrial operations, or a comparable hands-on environment.\n\nDemonstrated success managing multiple openings from sourcing and screening through interviews, offers, and closing.\n\nExperience building candidate pipelines through proactive outreach and relationships beyond inbound applications.\n\nStrong written and verbal communication, with the ability to maintain accurate applicant tracking records and use recruiting data to guide priorities.\n\nPreferred Skills\nExperience supporting a factory launch, production ramp, or high-volume hourly hiring program.\n\nEstablished relationships with trade schools, technical programs, or skilled trades communities in Los Angeles or the Bay Area.\n\nExperience recruiting for robotics, automotive, aerospace, or other precision manufacturing environments.\n\nExperience using AI screening or automation tools in a high-volume hiring process.\n\nWhat does a successful 1X Team Member look like\nTeam members at 1X who thrive here are builders.
