Operating at the\nintersection of engineering, fabrication, and product development, the ideal\ncandidate is equally comfortable sketching concepts, cutting and bonding\nmaterials, and resolving manufacturing challenges alongside a cross-functional\nteam. This is a fully on-site role, as the best work in this field happens\ncollaboratively-hands on materials, ideas advancing quickly.\nKey Outcomes\nDrive softgoods products from early concept through production, moving fast and finding smarter paths at every stage.\n\nBuild prototypes, tooling, and fixtures, iterating until quality, repeatability, and feel are dialed in.\n\nPartner with industrial designers, engineers, manufacturing partners, and vendors to resolve complex challenges and keep development moving.\n\nDevelop assembly, bonding, and fabrication workflows that make great work repeatable across the team.\n\nLead new technology introduction and rapid problem-solving, surfacing risks early and championing craftsmanship and continuous improvement.\n\nKey Competencies\nStrong CAD and mechanical design skills, moving fluidly from concept sketch to manufacturable prototype.\n\nSolid engineering fundamentals applied with sound judgment across fast-moving, iterative hardware development.\n\nMeaningful hands-on fabrication experience spanning materials, methods, and disciplines.\n\nA collaborative nature - you communicate clearly, listen well, and bring out the best in the people around you.\n\nMinimum Requirements\nExperience: 5 Years of experience\n\nEducation: Bachelors of Science engineering or related, or equivalent experience\n\nA portfolio is required, showcasing your professional work, personal projects, and passion projects.\n\nPreferred Skills\nTextiles, yarns, leathers, elastomers, foams, and other material systems\n\nMold design, tooling, and manufacturing fixture development\n\nPattern making, sewing, and construction techniques\n\nCLO3D or similar digital patterning and simulation tools\n\nAdhesives, bonding, lamination, and process development\n\nWhat does a successful 1X Team Member look like\nTeam members at 1X who thrive here are builders.
