We bring together rigid and soft materials-textiles, elastomers, and foams-pairing traditional techniques with the exotic and unexpected, always with safety, a soft-touch experience, and a warm, welcoming feel at our core, carrying every product from first concept through prototyping to full mass production.\nYour Charter\nThis is a hands-on, entry-level role built for aspiring engineers and manufacturing professionals with a real passion for sewing, textiles, and elastomers-and who want to learn the craft of softgoods from the people who do it best. Working alongside our engineers and designers, you'll cut, bond, sew, and assemble the prototypes, samples, and fixtures that carry our touch-facing components from idea to reality-building the fundamentals of fabrication, measurement, and assembly that every strong engineer relies on.\nYou'll start by executing to spec, then take on more as your skills sharpen, with mentorship and a clear path toward an engineering or manufacturing track.\nThis is a fully on-site role, as the best work in this field happens collaboratively, hands on materials, ideas advancing quickly.\nKey Outcomes\nSupport the team by building prototypes, samples, and fixtures to spec, learning to dial in quality, repeatability, and feel.\n\nExecute cut-and-sew, bonding, lamination, and assembly tasks accurately and consistently, following established workflows.\n\nPrepare materials, maintain shop tools and equipment, and keep the prototyping space organized, safe, and production-ready.\n\nDocument your work-measurements, process notes, and results-so iterations stay traceable and repeatable across the team.\n\nPartner closely with engineers and designers, asking good questions and absorbing feedback quickly to grow toward independent ownership.\n\nKey Competencies\nHands-on aptitude - comfortable working with your hands and eager to learn fabrication across textiles, foams, and elastomers.\n\nCare and precision - you take pride in clean, accurate work and notice when something is off by a millimeter.\n\nFoundational technical sense - a basic understanding of measurement, tolerances, and how parts fit and assemble together.\n\nCAD foundation - a solid grounding in CAD, comfortable reading and navigating 3D models and translating drawings into physical parts.\n\nStrong organization - keeps materials, samples, and workspaces orderly, and tracks tasks and documentation so work stays repeatable and easy to hand off.\n\nCoachability and communication - you listen well, follow direction, ask when you're unsure, and collaborate easily with people around you.\n\nMinimum Requirements\nExperience: 0-3 (internships, vocational training, apprenticeships, or relevant personal projects count)\n\nEducation: High school diploma or equivalent; a technical certificate, associate degree, or trade training is a plus, or equivalent practical experience\n\nExamples of hands-on work-school, personal, or professional projects-are encouraged, in lieu of a formal portfolio.\n\nPreferred Skills\nCut-and-sew, sewing machine operation, or pattern work\n\nAdhesives, bonding, and lamination\n\nSafe use of hand and power tools and basic shop practices\n\nKnowledge of general machine shop practices\n\nReading drawings or patterns, and using basic measurement or CAD tools\n\nFamiliarity with textiles, yarns, leathers, elastomers, or foams\n\nWhat does a successful 1X Team Member look like\nTeam members at 1X who thrive here are builders.
