We’re scaling, we’re hiring with intention, and we need people who want to build something that will genuinely change how humans spend their time safely creating abundance for all.\nAbout the Team:\nTest Engineering builds and supports the test systems that verify NEO hardware meets functional and quality requirements before shipment. Working across engineering and manufacturing, the team develops and maintains test stations, fixtures, and processes that identify defects, validate performance, and support production at scale.\nYour Charter:\nExecute reliable, repeatable tests on NEO hardware and robotic subassemblies while maintaining test station readiness and supporting manufacturing quality. This role is critical to identifying hardware failures, improving test coverage, and ensuring production test systems consistently verify product performance as 1X scales.\nKey Outcomes:\nExecute functional, electrical, and electromechanical tests accurately and consistently against documented test plans and engineering requirements.\n\nMaintain test station readiness by preparing and verifying fixtures, instrumentation, cabling, power supplies, and associated equipment.\n\nIdentify and troubleshoot test station and hardware failures, providing clear technical documentation and escalating issues to engineering when needed.\n\nMaintain accurate test records, pass/fail results, serial number traceability, and failure reports to support quality investigations and production decisions.\n\nSupport timely failure reproduction, retesting, and verification to minimize production delays and prevent recurring issues.\n\nIdentify opportunities to improve test procedures, station reliability, and execution efficiency as production requirements evolve.\n\nKey Competencies:\nHands-on technical aptitude across mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical systems.\n\nStrong troubleshooting skills with a systematic approach to identifying and isolating hardware and equipment failures.\n\nDetail-oriented execution with a commitment to test accuracy, data integrity, and procedural compliance.\n\nComfortable working with hand tools, test fixtures, instrumentation, and production or laboratory equipment.\n\nClear communicator who can document technical findings and collaborate effectively with engineering and manufacturing teams.\n\nTakes ownership of assigned work, adapts to changing priorities, and maintains a high standard for safety and execution.\n\nMinimum Requirements:\n2+ years of hands-on experience in an engineering lab, manufacturing test, electronics test, equipment maintenance, or a similar technical environment; relevant experience expectations will vary by level.\n\nPractical understanding of mechanical, electrical, or electromechanical hardware.\n\nExperience using hand tools and basic test equipment, such as digital multimeters and power supplies.\n\nAbility to follow technical procedures, interpret test instructions, and accurately document results.\n\nBasic computer skills, including working with spreadsheets and digital documentation systems.\n\nPreferred Skills:\nExperience supporting functional, end-of-line, reliability, or design validation testing.\n\nFamiliarity with digital multimeters, data acquisition systems, programmable power supplies, sensors, actuators, or motor-driven systems.\n\nAbility to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, or mechanical drawings.\n\nExperience troubleshooting PCBs, wiring harnesses, robotics, automation equipment, or complex electromechanical products.\n\nExperience with manufacturing execution systems, test-data software, or root-cause investigations.\n\nWhat does a successful 1X Team Member look like:\nTeam members at 1X who thrive here are builders.
