The bartender takes charge of his/her bar, recognizing members and their guests’ needs and responds with a sense of urgency. He/she promotes a sense of camaraderie with follow employees. The bartender understands the House Rules as determined by the Board of Directors and reports infractions to management professionally and accurately.\nPrimary Responsibilities and Duties:\nThe Abbey bar is to be organized and clean, reflecting in all aspects a pleasing atmosphere. Bars should be in this condition thirty minutes before opening time and maintained throughout the day. \nMembers are welcomed with a greeting during the first minute of their arrival. \nDrink orders are taken within 2 minutes after initial greeting. \nAll beverages are served in the appropriate glassware, with established measurements, in an appetizing display, with appropriate garnishes. \nMembers and guests are checked for satisfaction every 15 minutes during their stay. \nThe guest check is presented accurately, using Tableside handheld iPad, thanking the member by name, always ensuring a signature from the member. \nAll bartenders are trained in alcohol management and are TAM certified.\nA requisition order is filled out to stock and replace beverages, or bar supplies and keep the established pars filled ensuring un-interrupted service.\nFull knowledge of beer, wine, and spirits \nFull knowledge of beverage trends\nAbility to perform creative mixology and create original craft cocktails\nBartenders will tend to any tables assigned to their section\nBartenders will complete a daily opening and closing checklist according to their scheduled shift\nSupportive Functions: In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position is required to perform certain supportive functions. The amount of time spent performing each of these functions is to be solely determined by the manager/supervisor on duty and is based on the particular requirements of each specific outlet.\nMaintain an open line of communication between members and their guests, management, and line employees \nAssist in training of newly hired employees\nQualifications\nSpecific Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:\nAn individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities to be able to explain and demonstrate that he/she can perform the essential functions of the job.\nKnowledge of appropriate table settings and service ware.\nKnowledge of restaurant operations, to include proper staffing levels, member relations and etiquette. \nAbility to read, write and speak the English language sufficient to understand menus, record orders, communicate with members and guests to explain all offerings and record special requests.\nAbility to remember, recite and promote a variety of menu items.\nAbility to move throughout a crowded dining room to attend to guests.\nAbility to effectively deal with member and guest complaints and concerns in a courteous and professional manner. This involves carefully listening to the nature of the concern, demonstrating empathy, and providing a positive, proactive solution.\nQualification Standards:\nEducation: Any combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities. Mixologist certificate is preferred.\nExperience: Prior hospitality experience (Full dining specifically) is preferred.\nLicenses and Certificates: Ability to obtain any Club required certification or licenses.
