Ghost has offices in Los Angeles and New York.\nAbout the Role\nWe are looking for a Staff Accountant to join Ghost's Finance & Accounting team at a pivotal stage of growth. Reporting to the Director of Accounting, you will own core day-to-day accounting operations for a high-velocity, inventory-intensive marketplace: accounts receivable and payable, bank reconciliations, month-end close deliverables, and inventory accounting support.\nThis is a hands-on role with meaningful ownership from day one. You will work directly with the Director of Accounting as Ghost builds durable accounting systems, prepares for its first external financial audit, and scales its reporting infrastructure. This is an opportunity to take on increasing responsibility across the full accounting function inside a venture-backed company.\nKey Responsibilities\nAccounts Receivable & Accounts Payable\nOwn end-to-end invoice processing for customers and vendors; maintain organized supporting documentation in the invoice management system\nManage AR aging and collections follow-up, driving resolution directly with customers and escalating only complex accounts to the Director of Accounting\nOwn the reconciliation of DTC sales channels (including Shopify, TikTok Shop, Whatnot, StockX, and other marketplaces), ensuring sales, fees, refunds, chargebacks, and deposits are accurately reconciled while partnering with internal teams to investigate and resolve accounts receivable discrepancies\nOwn the end-to-end accounts payable process, including entering vendor bills into ERP system, maintaining complete supporting documentation, and ensuring transactions are accurately recorded\nPerform and document three-way matching (PO, receiving documentation, and vendor invoice) where applicable, investigate discrepancies, and resolve exceptions prior to payment\nRun vendor payment cycles, enforce disbursement controls, and ensure payments are processed in accordance with delegated approval authority\nMaintain vendor and customer master records, ensuring appropriate documentation, tax forms, payment instructions, and banking information are accurate and up to date\nGeneral Ledger & Month-End Close\nLead monthly closing activities by preparing schedules, reviewing account activity, and helping ensure timely completion of financial reporting tasks\nMaintain the integrity of the general ledger by recording and reviewing financial transactions with a high degree of accuracy\nPrepare and post journal entries related to routine and non-routine accounting activity, supported by appropriate documentation\nPerform detailed reconciliations for balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies until they are fully resolved\nComplete bank reconciliations on a regular basis and follow up on outstanding items to keep cash records current\nInventory & Reconciliations\nSupport inventory accounting by ensuring inventory transactions, costing, and inventory movements are accurately recorded and reconciled between operational systems and the general ledger\nPerform physical-to-system inventory reconciliations; investigate variances and propose resolutions to the Senior Manager of Accounting\nAnalysis, Audit & Process Support\nAssist in analyzing financial data and account fluctuations to identify variances, trends, and items requiring further review\nPartner with internal stakeholders to gather accounting information, clarify transaction details, and support reporting needs\nPrepare audit-ready workpapers and supporting schedules for Ghost's first external financial audit; field auditor requests for assigned areas\nHelp document and improve internal controls and accounting policies; identify and resolve data mismatches across systems proactively\nContribute to monthly management reporting and special projects for the Director of Accounting and CFO\nQualifications\nBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field\n2+ years of accounting experience with hands-on month-end close exposure: journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations\nExperience owning AR/AP processes or a set of close deliverables independently\nHands-on experience with NetSuite as a primary accounting system\nStrong Excel/Google Sheets skills; comfortable working with large transaction datasets\nExceptional attention to detail and organization; able to manage competing deadlines during close\nAI-native: comfortable using AI tools daily to accelerate reconciliations, analysis, and documentation, and actively looks to automate manual work\nProactive and self-directed; take end-to-end ownership of assigned areas and escalate with proposed solutions, not just problems\nStrong written and verbal communication skills\nStrong Plus\nCPA in progress or completed\nInventory, e-commerce, or marketplace accounting experience, including item-level or high-SKU environments\nExperience with Rillet or other modern, AI-native accounting platforms\nPublic accounting foundation or experience in a high-growth startup environment\nExposure to an external financial audit as a preparer of workpapers or schedules\nThis role will be based in our LA office. Our total compensation for this position can range from $80,000 -100,000 base salary + equity.
