Insurances and 401K available after 1000 hours worked.\nOngoing development opportunities and growth within a company that continuously invests in their people.\nWhat’s the role?\nThe Underground Shift Supervisor reports to the Mine General Foreman and the primary role is to be responsible for the supervision, leadership and direction of the Underground Mining Team within the Mining Services Department.\nDuties include:\nCoordinate the daily management, control and supervision of the working areas of the underground mining operations in accordance with Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) Act & Regulations. \nEnsure the Underground Miners understand written directions regarding mining operations and comply with the mining plan and underground designs provided by the Mining Engineers.\nCommunicate the underground production strategy for achieving the agreed daily targets of the operation. Monitor, manage and review the progress with the Underground Miners on an ongoing basis.\nCommunicate the business objectives with the operations team to ensure all activities are focused on agreed outcomes.\nMaintain close liaison with Geologists, Surveyors, Mining Engineers and Contractors to ensure mining activity is coordinated efficiently.\nOrganize and manage the shift plan as required to meet daily production and cost targets. \nOrganize and maintain underground production and status board for next shift and complete all relevant paperwork.\nEnsure personnel are adequately trained and qualified in relevant operating procedures.\nActively contribute to site safety policy and new initiatives; implement related changes.\nActively promote, monitor and enforce compliance by personnel with safe work practices.\nEnsure all incidents and accidents are reported, investigated and reviewed according to policy and procedure.\nDevelop a culture of high performance and behaviours that are consistent with agreed values.\nProvide feedback on performance. \nDevelop a succession plan for roles within the team.\nWork closely with the Mine Trainers to ensure competency assessment and development is ongoing to meet all targets.\nUndertake a full inspection of all working areas throughout the shift as required to ensure safe operations.\nEnsure pre-start checks and routine inspection checks are carried out.\nUndertake regular checks of mobile and fixed plant and equipment as required by the Mine General Foreman and record all results.\nMonitor operation of equipment, e.g.speeds, availability and breakdowns and report any non-conformances or issues to the Mine General Foreman.\nMaintain an accurate and full account of all daily mining operations, including downtime, areas mined, problems, and incidents.\nUpdate production statistics on a daily basisto monitor production against targets.\nMaintain a record of all shift inspections and any work required or undertaken to ensure safe operations.\nComply with and undertake additional/alternative responsibilities as reasonably requested by the Mine General Foreman or Project Manager.\nPrepare upgrade criteria for each non-exempt job classification, as well as any needed revisions, for manager’s approval.\nProvide and monitor training opportunities in an objective process; ensure that training opportunities are made available fairly, consistently and in a manner free from discriminatory bias.\nReview employees’ requests/applications for training based on objective evidence related to job performance, abilities and interest.\nDocument employees’ readiness to train for tasks, noting any operational reasons related to the availability and scheduling of requested training.\nMaintain training records of employees in the department. Monitor training register and logging of formal training as it occurs.\nParticipate in the review of any appeals filed by employees concerning training opportunities.\nThe specifics:\nQualifications Required\nCurrentDriver’s License.\nMinimum 5 years' relevant experience in the mining industry.\nComputer literacy - Microsoft Office, INX, etc.\nGood communication skills - written and verbal\nBe able to pass a background check and post-offer physical\nDesired Experience & Competencies\n2 or more years’ experience in supervisory or Lead role\nAbility to problem-solve and manage conflicting priorities.\nDemonstrated ability to maintain or exceed best industry practice in all mine production tasks.\nFlexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices.\nAwareness of the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) Act & Regulations. \nThe details:\nWorking a 21 day on, 21 day off rotating schedule up to 12 hours a day or more at a remote campsite. Extreme conditions, including but not limited to extreme and changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise, varying degrees of light and dark, in and around artificial light and in a confined work area.\nEmployees are required to stay on site at the company provided camp during the work rotation. Camp facilities provide dining service, games room, exercise & weight room, sauna, and accommodation rooms. Dormitory rooms have a land line phone, great Wi-Fi & cable TV. Cell service is available through Wi-Fi.
