This role leads daily test operations across all product lines, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant execution of electrical testing. The Test Supervisor manages test technicians, drives throughput, and ensures product performance through troubleshooting and process control. This position also provides technical leadership by supporting test development, failure analysis, and continuous improvement across the test organization.\nThis position will be based temporarily in NE San Antonio while ournew manufacturing plantis coming online. Our permanent location is approximately 25 minutes away at Brooks, 7515 Inner Circle Dr., San Antonio, 78235. The position is also 100% in-office and does not offer remote work. \nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS\nLead daily activities of Test Technicians across specific product lines within the site.\nAlign test execution with production schedules and site priorities to maintain flow and prevent bottlenecks.\nOversee all electrical testing activities including Hi-Pot, Megger, functional testing, relay testing, current injection, and system validation.\nDrive troubleshooting of wiring errors, control logic issues, and component failures to minimize downtime.\nSupport development and refinement of test procedures, work instructions, and standard processes.\nCollaborate with Engineering and Production to resolve test failures, design gaps, and documentation discrepancies.\nReview and validate test data, logs, and reports to ensure accuracy and completeness.\nSupport Factory Witness Testing (FWT) by coordinating execution, providing technical explanations, and addressing customer questions.\nMonitor and drive performance metrics including first pass yield, test throughput, downtime, and rework.\nEnsure all testing is performed in compliance with UL standards, customer requirements, and safety policies.\nMaintain test equipment readiness, including calibration, functionality, and safe operation.\nLead root cause investigations and support corrective actions for recurring test or quality issues.\nTrain and mentor team members on test procedures, troubleshooting techniques, and safety practices.\nCommunicate risks related to schedule, equipment, material, or technical issues to leadership.\nDrive continuous improvement in test processes, equipment utilization, and workflow efficiency.\nEnforce escalation processes for safety, quality, and critical failures.\nManage workforce expectations including performance, accountability, and attendance.\nFlexible and adaptable team player who operates with agility and resourcefulness and thrives in an often-changing environment. You will be operating with a start-up mindset and must be willing to help wherever needed - \"not my job\" is an unacceptable response. \nSUPERVISION OF PERSONNEL\nTest Technicians.\nTest Leads.\nCOMPETENCIES\nSafety and Compliance:Strong understanding of electrical safety including NFPA 70E, PPE, and safe test practices.\nKnowledge of UL standards, customer specifications, and test compliance requirements.\n\n Technical Expertise:Strong understanding of electrical systems, switchgear, and test methods.\nAbility to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and control logic.\nExperience with relay protection testing, functional testing, and system validation.\nAbility to lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis across complex systems.\nFamiliarity with automated test systems (LabVIEW, PLCs, etc.) preferred.\n\nLeadership and Teamwork:Ability to lead, coach, and develop test technicians.\nStrong communication and coordination across production, engineering, and quality teams.\nAbility to drive accountability and maintain team performance under pressure.\n\nOperational and Problem-Solving Skills:Strong prioritization and decision-making skills to maintain throughput.\nAbility to quickly resolve issues impacting testing and production flow.\nOwnership of daily execution and schedule adherence.\n\nContinuous Improvement:Ability to identify process gaps and drive improvements.\nExperience with Lean manufacturing or structured problem-solving preferred.\n\nKEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs)\nSafety: Compliance with safety standards and incident prevention.\nQuality: First pass yield, defect detection accuracy, rework reduction.\nDelivery: On-time test completion, throughput, bottleneck reduction.\nEfficiency: Downtime reduction, troubleshooting effectiveness, equipment utilization.\nEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE\nAssociate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field preferred, or equivalent experience.\n3-5 years of experience in electrical testing, manufacturing, or related field.\n2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred.\nStrong experience with electrical test equipment and troubleshooting required.\nExperience in medium voltage or power systems preferred.\nDemonstrated career ambition with a track record of growth and increasing responsibility; highly promotable with the potential to take on broader leadership roles within a fast-paced, high-growth organization \nPHYSICAL / MENTAL / ENVIRONMENTAL\nPhysical Demands:\nActivities: Sitting 20%, Walking/Standing 80%\nLifting: Frequently lift up to 50 lbs.\nBending: Must be able to bend, squat, crawl, and climb.\nVision: Ability to see detailed components and work on screens.\nMental Demands: Ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.\nEnvironment: Shop/warehouse environment with exposure to heat, cold, noise, dust, and hazards.\nCompensation\nCompensation actually offered for this role will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.\nWhy Join IEM\nAt IEM, you’ll join a team that powers some of the world’s most ambitious projects.
