Key Responsibilities

  • Provide L1 support and administration for Linux/Unix servers.
  • Monitor server availability, CPU, memory, disk utilization, processes, and system health.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of Linux OS, services, applications, and connectivity issues.
  • Handle user and group administration, including creation, modification, and access management.
  • Manage file systems, permissions, ownership, mounts, and disk space.
  • Start, stop, restart, and monitor Linux services.
  • Review and analyze system/application logs for initial issue identification.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting related to SSH, DNS, FTP/SFTP, networking, and connectivity.
  • Monitor scheduled jobs and troubleshoot Cron jobs.
  • Support server patching, package installation, and routine maintenance activities.
  • Execute standard operating procedures (SOPs) and operational checklists.
  • Create and update incident/service requests in the ticketing system.
  • Escalate complex or unresolved issues to L2/L3 teams with proper troubleshooting details.
  • Follow ITIL processes for Incident, Request, Change, and Problem Management.
  • Maintain operational documentation, troubleshooting guides, and knowledge-base articles.
  • Participate in shift-based support and rotational on-call activities, if required.
