Cloud CoE Solution Architect

Role summary

The Multi-Cloud Transformation Solution Architect is responsible for designing, governing, and leading end-to-end cloud transformation solutions across multiple cloud providers (typically OCI,AWS, Azure, GCP, plus on?prem/hybrid). The role ensures that architectures are secure, scalable, cost?efficient, and aligned with business strategy and modernization goals (migration, modernization, data & AI, and platform engineering).

Key responsibilities

• Cloud transformation architecture and strategy
  • Define the multi?cloud target architecture (landing zones, networking, identity, security, operations) and transformation roadmap from current state to target state.
  • Work with enterprise/solution architects and business stakeholders to align cloud strategies with business outcomes (agility, resilience, cost optimization, data & AI).
• Solution design and delivery governance
  • Lead solution design for application and infrastructure migrations, modernizations (microservices, serverless, containers), and new cloud-native builds across multiple clouds.
  • Produce architecture artefacts (reference architectures, HLD/LLD, patterns, blueprints) and govern their implementation across programs and projects.
• Multi-cloud platform and landing zones
  • Design and guide implementation of secure, compliant multi?cloud landing zones:
    • account/subscription structure,
    • hub?and?spoke / VPC/VNet topology,
    • connectivity (interconnect / ExpressRoute / VPN),
    • shared services (logging, monitoring, identity).
  • Ensure consistency of governance, policies, tagging, cost management, and guardrails across cloud providers.
• Security, identity, and compliance by design
  • Embed security architecture into all multi?cloud solutions: IAM/RBAC, key management, encryption, WAF/DDoS, network security, Zero Trust patterns.
  • Align designs with compliance requirements (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC 2, sectoral regulations) and cloud provider best practices.
• Data, integration, and application modernization
  • Work with app and data teams to define modernization approaches (rehost, replatform, refactor, re?architect) and data migration/integration patterns.
  • Design API and integration architectures (API gateways, messaging/eventing, data pipelines) that work consistently across clouds.
• DevOps, automation, and operations
  • Define DevSecOps and automation patterns (CI/CD, IaC with Terraform/ARM/CloudFormation, policy-as-code, automated provisioning).
  • Collaborate with SRE/Operations teams to ensure observability, incident response, and resilience architectures (HA/DR, failover, backup) are consistent across clouds.
• Presales / stakeholder engagement (if relevant)
  • Support RFP/RFI solutioning, estimates, and presentations for multi?cloud transformation deals; defend architectures and trade?offs with clients.
  • Lead technical workshops and design sessions with customer IT, security, and business teams.

Required skills and experience

• Experience
  • Typically 10+ years in IT/architecture roles, with 5+ years designing and delivering cloud solutions and at least 2-3 providers (AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI, etc.).
• Technical competencies
  • Deep understanding of cloud infrastructure and services (compute, storage, networking, IAM, security, databases, serverless, containers) on at least two major clouds.
  • Strong skills in network concepts and topologies (hub?and?spoke, VPC/VNet peering, interconnect/ExpressRoute, load balancing, HA/DR).
  • Experience with Kubernetes/container platforms, CI/CD and IaC tools (Terraform, ARM/Bicep, CloudFormation, Ansible, etc.).
  • Solid knowledge of security and identity across clouds (IAM, RBAC, SSO, key management, WAF/DDoS, network security, Zero Trust).
• Architecture and design skills
  • Proven track record of leading complex cloud transformation programs, including migration waves, modernization, and new greenfield builds.
  • Ability to produce and communicate clear architecture artefacts and to govern adherence through reviews and coaching.
• Soft skills
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication; able to explain trade?offs and guide decision?making at CxO and engineering levels.
  • Leadership across cross?functional teams (infra, security, apps, data, operations) and vendors.

Education and certifications (indicative)

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or related discipline; Master’s is a plus.
• One or more cloud architect certifications, e.g.:
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional,
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert,
  • Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect,
  • Plus relevant security or DevOps certifications.
