Here, you can apply your talent in bold ways that matter.Job Description:\nPosition Summary\n3M India Personal Safety Division is seeking a technically strong and customer-focused Fall Protection Application Engineer to provide application engineering, technical support, and solution development for fall protection products and systems across India.\nThe role will be responsible for supporting customers, distributors, sales teams, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders in the selection, application, inspection, and use of fall protection solutions. The engineer will translate customer requirements and workplace hazards into technically appropriate fall protection solutions while ensuring alignment with applicable 3M product requirements, engineering principles, and relevant Indian and international standards.\nThe position will work closely with the 3M PSD Sales, Marketing, Application Engineering, Product Development, and Regulatory teams and will play an important role in developing application opportunities and expanding the adoption of engineered fall protection solutions in industrial and infrastructure markets.\nJOB LOCATION - MUMBAI or BANGALORE\nKey Responsibilities\n1. Application Engineering & Technical Solutions\nUnderstand customer applications, work-at-height hazards, site conditions, and operational requirements.\nRecommend appropriate 3M fall protection products and systems based on the application and identified risks.\nProvide technical guidance on harnesses, lanyards, self-retracting lifelines, anchorage systems, horizontal and vertical lifelines, rescue systems, confined-space access/egress, and other fall protection solutions.\nUnderstand basic site layouts, drawings, specifications, and work-at-height requirements to determine appropriate solution approaches.\nSupport technical calculations and application assessments where required\nParticipate in site surveys as required and provide technical recommendations for fall protection system implementation.\n2. Customer & Project Support\nProvide technical support to key customers, EPC contractors, consultants, system integrators, and end users.\nConduct customer visits, site assessments, technical discussions, product demonstrations, and application trials.\nSupport major projects from opportunity identification through technical solution development and implementation.\nWork with customers to identify unmet safety needs and develop application-based solutions.\nSupport troubleshooting of product and application-related issues and coordinate with relevant 3M teams (global technical / quality) when escalation is required.\n3. Sales & Business Development Support\nSupport PSD sales organization to identify and develop technical opportunities.\nProvide technical input during customer meetings, tenders, specifications, and project discussions.\nSupport sales teams in positioning technically appropriate solutions rather than product-only offerings.\nIdentify opportunities for conversion from conventional fall protection practices to 3M solutions.\nSupport opportunity development in industries such as construction, infrastructure, manufacturing, oil & gas, power, utilities, mining, transportation, warehousing, and other work-at-height applications.\nMaintain an understanding of the project pipeline and provide technical support to priority opportunities.\n4. Training & Competency Development\nDevelop and deliver technical training on fall protection products, systems, applications, and safe work-at-height practices.\nConduct training for customers, distributors, contractors, safety professionals, and internal sales teams.\nSupport competency development programs for users and channel partners.\nConduct product demonstrations and practical application sessions.\nSupport development of technical training material, application guides, presentations, and demonstrations.\n5. Standards, Regulations & Technical Knowledge\nMaintain working knowledge of applicable Indian and international fall protection standards and regulations.\nMonitor developments in relevant standards and industry practices affecting fall protection.\nSupport the organization in understanding customer and regulatory requirements related to work-at-height safety.\nProvide technical input into standards, specifications, product approvals, and regulatory activities where required.\nMaintain strong knowledge of fall protection principles, hierarchy of controls, anchorages, rescue planning, and work-at-height applications.\n6. Field Application & Technical Documentation\nConduct site surveys and prepare reports.\nMaintain records of customer technical engagements, site assessments, demonstrations, and application opportunities.\nCapture field insights and communicate recurring customer requirements to the broader PSD organization.\nSupport development of application case studies and best-practice examples.\n7. Cross-Functional Collaboration\nWork closely with PSD Sales, Marketing, Product Management, Application Engineering, Regulatory, and Global Technical teams.\nCollaborate with 3M regional and global technical teams on complex applications and new solutions.\nSupport new product introductions and application development.\nShare technical knowledge and successful application solutions across the India and Asia organization.\nKey Deliverables\nHigh-quality technical support for strategic fall protection opportunities.\nDevelopment of technically appropriate fall protection solutions for customer applications.\nSuccessful technical conversion of identified application opportunities.\nHigh-quality customer training and technical demonstrations.\nEffective support for key projects and strategic accounts.\nDevelopment and documentation of application engineering knowledge and best practices.\nStrong collaboration between Sales, Application Engineering, Marketing, and Technical teams.\n\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in - Mechanical engineering, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Safety Engineering, or a related technical discipline.\nTypically, 8-10 years of relevant experience in fall protection, work-at-height safety, industrial safety, engineering solutions, construction, infrastructure, or a related technical field.\nStrong understanding of fall protection principles and work-at-height applications.\nExperience with customer-facing technical roles, application engineering, engineering services, or technical sales support.\nAbility to understand technical drawings, site layouts, specifications, and engineering requirements.\nWillingness to travel extensively across India for customer visits, site surveys, training, and project support.\nPreferred Experience\nExperience with fall protection systems, anchorage systems, lifelines, rescue systems, or access/egress systems.\nExperience in construction, infrastructure, oil & gas, power, utilities, manufacturing, mining\nFamiliarity with relevant Indian and international fall protection standards.\nExperience with engineered fall protection solutions and site assessments.\nKnowledge of AutoCAD or similar drawing/engineering tools would be an advantage.\nExperience working with multinational organizations, engineering consultants, EPC contractors, or large industrial customers would be beneficial.\nKey Competencies\nFall Protection Technical Expertise\nApplication Engineering\nCustomer & Stakeholder Management\nProblem Solving\nTechnical Communication\nSite Assessment & Risk Understanding\nTraining & Presentation Skills\nProject & Opportunity Management\nCross-functional Collaboration\nCommercial Awareness\nSafety Mindset\nLearn more about 3M’s creative solutions to the world’s problems at www.3M.com or on Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn @3M.Safety is a core value at 3M.
