This entry-level technologist role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual with strong technical curiosity, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and laboratory teams.\nThe technologist will assist in executing experiments, collecting and analyzing data, maintaining technical records, supporting product or process trials, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.\nHere, you will make an impact by:\nSupporting laboratory, pilot, or manufacturing trials under the guidance of engineers, scientists, or senior technologists.\nPreparing materials, samples, equipment, and documentation for testing or evaluation.\nConducting routine testing, measurements, and data collection using established procedures.\nRecording, organizing, and summarizing technical data accurately and in a timely manner.\nAssisting with troubleshooting product, process, or equipment issues.\nFollowing standard operating procedures, safety requirements, and quality guidelines.\nMaintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment.\nManaging equipment calibration.\nSupporting continuous improvement projects related to productivity, quality, cost, and safety.\nCollaborating with cross-functional teams, including engineering, quality, manufacturing, and supply chain.\nParticipating in team meetings and communicating project status, observations, and technical findings.\nDocumenting experimental data and observations in technical notebooks or electronic files.\nYour Skills and Expertise\nTo set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:\nAssociate's degree (completed and verified prior to start) and two (2) years of experience in a technical, engineering, manufacturing, laboratory, or science-related field.\nOR\nHigh School Diploma/GED (completed and verified prior to start) and five (5) years of experience in a technical, engineering, manufacturing, laboratory, or science-related field.\nAdditional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:\nExperience in a laboratory, manufacturing, product development, or technical support environment.\nFamiliarity with materials testing, process documentation, or quality systems.\nExperience using measurement tools, laboratory equipment, or production equipment.\nStrong problem-solving and organizational skills.\nAbility to communicate technical information clearly.\nInterest in developing technical capability within EMD-related products, materials, or processes.\nAbility to work with minimal supervision (self-motivated) and in teams\nAbility to follow technical procedures and work instructions.\nStrong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.\nBasic computer skills, including Microsoft Office or similar tools.\nAbility to work independently and as part of a team.\nStrong commitment to safety, quality, and compliance.\nWork location:\nThis role follows an on-site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at the 3M Center in Austin, TX.\nTravel: May include up to 10% domestic and international\nRelocation Assistance: Is not authorized\nMust be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).\nResponsibilities of this position may include direct and/or indirect physical or logical access to information, systems, technologies subjected to the regulations/compliance with U.S. Export Control Laws.\nU.S. Export Control laws and U.S. Government Department of Defense contracts and sub-contracts impose certain restrictions on companies and their ability to share export-controlled and other technology and services with certain \"non-U.S. persons\" (persons who are not U.S. citizens or nationals, lawful permanent residents of the U.S., refugees, \"Temporary Residents\" (granted Amnesty or Special Agricultural Worker provisions), or persons granted asylum.\nTo comply with these laws, 3M must help assess candidates' U.S. person status.\nThe questions asked in this application are intended to assess this and will be used for evaluation purposes only.
