The ideal candidate will be able to perform contract administration tasks, observe and evaluate the contractor's compliance with the intent of the construction documents, and evaluate the contractor’s proposed remedial actions as required for public works-type projects.\nRequirements\nThe following represents the normal responsibilities associated with providing construction management during the construction phase of a project:\nPerform pre-construction duties and chair pre-construction meeting.\nReview contract requirements and changes by evaluating change order requests and cost/time impacts; Process RFI’s, change orders, pay requests, etc.\nEnforce contract requirements; interpret specifications/drawings and potential claims; and mitigate potential cost/schedule impacts.\nProvide accurate measured quantities and review pay estimates submitted by contractor.\nProvide continual review of plans and specifications.\nAttend all necessary meetings and run weekly construction meetings.\nReport all discrepancies requiring corrective actions to the owner.\nCoordinate construction activities by ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local jurisdiction requirements; represent the client at various meetings; and meet with local citizen groups and other agencies to discuss construction issues/concerns.\nPerform day-to-day management and oversight of projects.\n Minimum Qualifications:\n5 years of experience as a Construction Manager on civil infrastructure projects.\nRegistration as a CA Civil Engineer or a Certified Construction Manager (CCM) is preferred.\nKnowledge of Caltrans Local Assistance Procedures Manual (LAPM) is desirable.\nPrior experience with state-and federally-funded projects.\nExperience on roadway, earthwork and grading, underground utilities, and traffic signalization projects.\nProficient computer, writing, organizational, and communication skills.\nGood problem solving capability and interpersonal skills.\nExperience with Caltrans Structures is desirable.\nPhysical Demands -
