As Staff Engineer for Fuels Supply, you will design, build, and optimize the Supply Integration Hub, a core platform orchestrating data and workflows across the fuels supply chain. Implement and integrate of the Right Angle ETRM platform and the BestBuy supply optimization solution. This is a senior, hands-on individual contributor role where you guide engineers through architecture and technical decisions while partnering closely with vendors, business stakeholders, and engineering leadership, with an emphasis on strong engineering fundamentals and rapid domain learning.\nKEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:\n Technical Design & Architecture: D esign and architect for the Supply Integration Hub and related fuels supply applications. Own technical decisions for cloud-native microservices, API integrations, event-driven pipelines, and data flows between internal systems and external platforms (Right Angle, BestBuy, OPIS, DTN).\nHands-On Development: Actively contribute production code in Java Spring / Spring Boot, Node.js, React, or Python. Build and maintain RESTful APIs, Kafka-based messaging, and ETL pipelines that power the fuels supply ecosystem.\nIntegration Leadership: Drive integration architecture between the Supply Integration Hub and COTS platforms. Collaborate with vendor implementation teams to define interface contracts, data mappings, and reconciliation processes.\n Code Quality & Engineering Standards: Establish and enforce coding standards, design patterns (MVC/MVVM), and peer-review practices. Champion test-driven development, automated testing, and CI/CD best practices.\nMentoring & Technical Guidance: Mentor engineers on modern engineering practices, cloud architecture, and domain-specific knowledge. Conduct architecture reviews, pair programming sessions, and knowledge-sharing forums.\n Cloud & DevOps: Design and maintain cloud infrastructure on Azure/AWS, including container orchestration (Kubernetes/EKS), infrastructure-as-code, and observability (monitoring, alerting, logging).\nData Architecture: Guide data modeling, query optimization, and performance tuning across PostgreSQL, MS SQL, and NoSQL data stores. Ensure data integrity across the supply chain data landscape.\nAgile Delivery: Participate in and support Agile/Scrum ceremonies. Provide effort estimates, decompose epics into stories, and ensure predictable, high-quality delivery across sprints.\nStakeholder Communication: Translate complex technical concepts for business partners and leadership. Communicate risks, trade-offs, and progress with clarity and transparency.\nInnovation & Continuous Improvement: Stay current with emerging technologies including AI/ML, contribute to internal engineering communities, and champion experimentation that improves developer productivity and platform capabilities.\nEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:\nEDUCATION: Bachelors/4 Yr Degree\nYEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE: 8+ years\nYEARS OF MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE: NA\nCERTIFICATIONS / LICENSES: Azure/AWS Certifications, SAFe/Scrum certifications\nSPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS :\n8+ years of hands-on software development experience designing and building enterprise applications.\nStrong proficiency in Java Spring / Spring Boot, and at least one of: Node.js, React/Angular, or Python.\n5+ years of experience with large-scale microservice architectures and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker, Azure EKS).\n5+ years working with relational and/or non-relational databases (PostgreSQL, MS SQL, MongoDB).\nDemonstrated experience building event-driven applications using Kafka, message queues, or similar technologies.\nSolid understanding of RESTful API design, OAuth/OIDC security patterns, and service mesh concepts.\nExperience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred; AWS or GCP acceptable).\nStrong understanding of MVC/MVVM/MVP design patterns and SOLID principles.\nExperience with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps) and Git-based version control.\nProven ability to lead technical teams without formal management authority - influencing through expertise and collaboration.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\nAbility to understand business requirements and translate them into technical designs and actionable engineering plans.\nIf an hourly or salary range is included in this ad it represents the range 7-Eleven in good faith believes is the range of compensation for this role at the time of this posting.
