As we continue to grow, we’re investing in the next generation of our platform and are looking for experienced engineers who want to help shape its future.\nWhat you'll do:\nCollaborate with product managers and stakeholders to translate business problems into AI-powered search and retrieval solutions.\nDesign and build hybrid search systems combining keyword search (BM25) and semantic/vector search to power intelligent discovery across large datasets.\nDevelop and optimize retrieval pipelines used in RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation) and AI-driven applications.\nBuild scalable pipelines for document ingestion, indexing, embedding generation, and search ranking.\nPartner with the Data team to ensure the right data is collected, enriched, chunked, and indexed for retrieval systems.\nDesign and implement AI-powered services that combine LLMs with search infrastructure.\nWrite high-quality Python code to manipulate data, build search pipelines, and evaluate retrieval performance.\nDevelop tools and infrastructure to support relevance tuning, search quality evaluation, and continuous improvement of ranking models.\nWork with our cloud operations team to deploy AI search services, monitor performance, and improve latency, relevance, and reliability\nAbout you:\n5+ years of professional software engineering experience, ideally in backend systems, or search infrastructure.\nExperience building search or retrieval systems for large document stores\nHands-on experience with Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, Solr, or similar search platforms.\nExperience implementing hybrid search combining keyword-based retrieval with vector embeddings.\nStrong Python or equivalent modern tech stack development skills.\nFamiliarity with document processing pipelines (chunking, embeddings, indexing).\nExperience building scalable data infrastructure into production SaaS systems.\nExperience working in AWS cloud environments and modern DevOps practices.\nNice to have (Preferred):\nExperience with vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, Milvus, FAISS).\nExperience tuning search ranking and relevance models.\nBackground in information retrieval or search relevance engineering.\nExperience building RAG systems or AI agents.\nExperience working with LLMs and retrieval-augmented architectures.\nFamiliarity with large-scale document processing (OCR, structured document extraction).\nExposure to fintech or the legal industry.\nAdditional Information:\nThe monthly gross salary range for this position is CZK 140,000 to CZK 200,000. 8am is committed to fair, objective, and non-discriminatory compensation, and actual pay may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and education.\nWhy join our new 8am Czech Republic hub?\nFounding Team Impact: Be a founding engineer of our new Czech Republic R&D hub.
