With proven product-market fit and strong, global market pull, 9fin is accelerating toward becoming the category-defining platform for debt markets worldwide.\nThe opportunity\nWe are recruiting a number of M&A reporters in London and New York to elevate our coverage of the full sponsor-backed deal lifecycle. This an exciting opportunity to join 9fin’s world-class international newsroom of over one hundred journalists, correspondents and editors reporting across the ever-converging leveraged finance, private credit, asset-backed, CLO and distressed asset classes.\nThe M&A reporter will cover the lifecycle of a deal from advisor mandates right through to exit, as well as every development and trend affecting how companies are bought, sold and financed. The intelligence gained will be valuable across 9fin’s asset classes, making this a critical and cross-functional role.\nWhat you'll work on\nShape M&A coverage, producing both a steady flow of deal scoops and an incisive series of analyses and commentaries on the market;\n\nWork closely with editors, data teams, product teams, sales and marketing to develop the best possible coverage for our clients;\n\nIdentify and break M&A stories\n\nParticipate in industry events and moderate conference panels;\n\nMentor junior journalists and become a source of support and knowledge within the team.\n\nAbout you\nWe think the following would lead to a particularly good fit, but if this doesn’t perfectly match you, please don’t be put off applying:\nYou will already have a fabulous source network and a track record of breaking M&A scoops;\n\nYou can demonstrate strong news judgement, with proven ability to recognise scoop potential, pitch proprietary stories and maintain a content pipeline;\n\nYou have a portfolio of thought-provoking analyses on your area of expertise;\n\nYou are comfortable with data and finding stories within data;\n\nYou hold yourself to high standards of accuracy in your reporting and in your writing;\n\nYou are able to navigate biases and question authority where necessary;\n\nYou are an emotionally mature individual, able to receive and action feedback, but also able to proactively identify and communicate issues and obstacles for yourself and the broader team.\n\nOur benefits\nWe’re a scaling start up and we enjoy sharing our success, when the company succeeds, we always reinvest that in our people.
