This individual is also responsible in assisting the Chef in managing all daily operations of the kitchen and ensures that all equipment is in working condition and cleaned thoroughly on a daily basis.\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:\nThe essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to:\nPrepares for the day by gathering all items necessary for cooking food products in large quantities. \nCooks menu items in accordance with prescribed recipes. \nAssists Chef to maintain inventory for goods in chill, freezer and dry/canned goods on a weekly basis. \nAssists with packing and wrapping of cooked items for each event with proper color codes. \nAssists with maintenance and cleanliness of the kitchen on a daily basis. \nPuts all equipment away in their proper place. \nPerforms other duties as assigned. \nQUALIFICATIONS:\nScheduling:\nMust be able to work flexible shifts according to the needs of the assignments and/or catering or banquet functions. \nPhysical Ability:\nMust be able to lift up to 50 pounds \nReaching/bending frequently \nGood speech and hearing necessary for communicating with other employees, managers, and the public. \nMental Ability:\nAction-oriented (exercising initiative to follow-up and follow through) \nDetail-oriented \nReading, writing, and oral proficiency in the English language required \nPre-Employment Requirements:\nMust pass drug screening test and physical exam \nMust have passed a TB test within 5 years of start date with skin test or chest x-ray \nMust have valid current Hawaii State Driver’s License and clean driver’s abstract. \nEnvironmental Conditions:\nOutside and Indoor Functions \nWorking in extreme temperatures from a hot kitchen to chill and/or frozen room. \nEducation:\nHigh school diploma or equivalent preferred. \nExperience:\nPrior culinary experience and/or education required. \nDesired Skills:\nGood verbal and written communication skills \nGood interpersonal skills \nAbility to interact on a professional level with clients \nAbility to problem solve \nAbility to supervisor others in a positive and professional manner \nDesired Attributes:\nSelf-motivated \nAction-oriented (exercising initiative to follow-up and follow through) - Detail-oriented (must be very accurate) \nAbility to work under minimal supervision \nAbility to work under pressure to meet deadlines \nTeam player \nDisclaimer:\nPlease note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
