This role applies advanced engineering expertise and systems thinking to solve complex technical challenges, guide engineering decisions, and improve product and business outcomes.Working with a high degree of autonomy, the Staff Engineer provides technical leadership through collaboration, mentoring, and influence. The role partners closely with engineering, operations, quality, supply chain, marketing, service, and external partners to ensure successful product development, risk management, and implementation of engineering best practices.\nDepending on the assignment, the role may provide technical leadership in specialized disciplines such as fluid control systems, including pneumatic, electro-pneumatic, water delivery, vacuum, and electromechanical systems.\nJOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\nDrive the development of complex products, systems, and technologies across multiple projects.\nProvide technical leadership and influence technical decisions, engineering practices, and solutions across multiple projects.\nEvaluate technical alternatives, risks, and tradeoffs to support sound engineering decisions.\nDevelop and validate designs through analysis, prototyping, testing, and problem solving.\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners to deliver successful product outcomes.\nMentor engineers, designers, and technicians while promoting engineering best practices.\nSupport the development and adoption of engineering standards, tools, and processes.\nDrive resolution of complex quality issues, large-scale cost-saving initiatives, and critical customer issues.\nContribute to innovation through technology exploration and development of new product solutions.\nServe as a technical resource within areas of expertise, including fluid control technologies as applicable.\nQUALIFICATIONS:\nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities\nExpert knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and product development processes.\nAbility to solve complex technical problems and develop practical engineering solutions.\nProven technical leadership across multiple projects and cross-functional teams.\nProficiency with 3D CAD, engineering documentation, and product lifecycle management tools.\nExperience with engineering analysis, design verification, and structured problem-solving methods.\nHands-on product development experience including prototyping, testing, troubleshooting, and design refinement.\nAbility to evaluate technical risks and make sound engineering decisions.\nStrong communication, collaboration, influence, and mentoring skills.\nKnowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, quality systems, and product validation practices.\nCommitment to continuous improvement, innovation, and engineering excellence.\nExperience with fluid control technologies, including pneumatic, electro-pneumatic, vacuum, water delivery, or related systems preferred.\nEducation and Experience\nBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline required; Master's degree preferred.\nTypically requires 8+ years of progressive experience in mechanical engineering, product development, or related technical disciplines.\nExperience developing products within regulated, manufacturing-intensive, or customer-focused industries preferred.\nDemonstrated experience providing technical leadership across complex engineering projects and influencing technical direction beyond a single project or product.\nRecognized as a subject matter expert in one or more technical disciplines relevant to product development.\nPhysical Requirements:\nAbility to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise maneuver up to 35 pounds with or without assistance on a routine basis. Must have manual hand dexterity to grasp, operate tools and equipment repetitively. Able to walk, stand, sit, bend, reach, and occasionally kneel, climb steps, and twist throughout an entire shift.
