Smith is headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with approximately 12,000 employees at operations in the United States, Canada, China, India, Mexico, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom.\nPrimary Function\nThe Accounting Analyst II will perform a variety of activities in the preparation, examination, and interpretation of accounting and financial records, reports, and statements. The incumbent will be involved with the general ledger, budget, month-end closing, and other financial analyses compliant with all Company and GAAP policies.\nResponsibilities\nComplete Month-End Closing procedures\nReconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts accurately and in accordance with US GAAP for two plant locations monthly.\nPrepare weekly and monthly labor analysis.\nCompile and review the monthly plant expense comparisons to budget and report significant variances to Plant Leadership team. Help identify trends or issues and correction methods.\nClose and settle production orders, analyze variances, quantify impact to income statement and meet with related teams to refine process and reduce future variances.\nSupport operations team with capital project acquisition requests and capitalization processes.\nLead in the preparation of Plant’s Budget.\nPrepare specific audit schedules and assist with annual audit as required.\nReconcile audit findings and assist in the development of new related procedures.\nAssist with the Annual Standard Cost Roll.\nProvide research assistance as required and respond to inquiries and requests from internal and external sources.\nProvide payroll approval.\nObserve all procedures and policies in accordance with GAAP, company policy, and federal/state regulations.\nQualifications\nBachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting\n3+ years of related work experience or training\nFamiliarity with all applicable principles, regulations, and laws including GAAP, tax laws, and payroll laws\nAbility to read and interpret documents and data\nStrong communication skills both orally and written\nProficiency with MS Excel and Word and accounting software\nAbility to maintain confidentiality of information and documents\nWe Offer\nCompetitive compensation package and comprehensive benefits plans which include medical and dental insurance, company-sponsored life insurance, retirement security savings plan, short- and long-term disability programs and tuition assistance.\nADA Statement & EEO Statement\nIn developing this job description care was taken to include all competencies needed to successfully perform in this position.
