Smith is headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with approximately 12,000 employees at operations in the United States, Canada, China, India, Mexico, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom.\nPrimary Function\nThe maintenance technician is essential to sustaining smooth, efficient production operations by ensuring equipment reliability and minimizing downtime.\nResponsibilities\nPerform preventative maintenance on all manufacturing equipment including but not limited to plastic injection molding machines, auxiliary equipment (i. e. chillers, dryers, grinders) and facility infrastructure.\nTroubleshoot, diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic issues on production equipment promptly to minimize downtime.\nConduct routine inspections of machinery and equipment to identify and address potential problems before they escalate.\nAssist with the installation of new equipment and the relocation of existing machinery.\nAdhere to all safety protocol and procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).\nIdentify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and reduce operational costs.\nCollaborate with production personnel to identify and address equipment issues and implement solutions.\nSupports manufacturing teams with advanced technical knowledge and solutions.\nQualifications\nHigh school diploma or GED is required; Associate degree or applicable certification preferred\nVocational school or junior technical college training in applicable technical areas\nMinimum of 5 years related work experience; experience in an injection molding or plastic manufacturing environment highly preferred\nAbility to climb in overhead structures, to work beneath machines and in close quarters performing analysis and repair work\nProficient in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems\nStrong understanding of hydraulic pneumatic, electrical and mechanical systems common with industrial machines\nExcellent problem solving and analytical skills\nStrong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship\nAbility to work independently and as part of a team\nAbility to lift heavy objects, stand for extended periods, and work in various environmental conditions\nEducation\nHigh School Diploma or GED\nPhysical Requirements\nWe Offer\nCompetitive compensation package and comprehensive benefits plans which include medical and dental insurance, company-sponsored life insurance, retirement security savings plan, short- and long-term disability programs and tuition assistance.\nHours: 1st shift- 7:00am- 3:30pm, Monday- Friday.
