This is a practical, hands-on role at the heart of our manufacturing operation, where the tools you look after produce safety-critical products used in industrial environments worldwide.\nYou’ll work closely with our Toolroom and Process Engineers, Production, Quality and New Product Introduction teams, as well as external toolmakers, to keep our tooling reliable, safe and continuously improving.\nHow you will make an impact:\nYou’ll help create, maintain and review the routine maintenance schedule for all A-SAFE tooling.\nYou’ll help create and maintain a tooling checklist to be used in all routine maintenance activities.\nYou’ll monitor tooling spares, ensuring stock is always available.\nYou’ll carry out tooling modifications that deliver tangible scrap and process improvements.\nYou’ll diagnose tool failures quickly and accurately, understanding the effect on component quality.\nYou’ll support all tooling-related CAD/CAM activities.\nYou’ll support the New Product Introduction process for all tooling requirements.\nYou’ll assist the Toolroom and Process Engineers in the training and development of apprentices.\nYou’ll attend off-site trials as required.\nYou’ll liaise with external toolmakers to discuss repairs and modifications.\nYou’ll ensure all health, safety and environmental policies are always adhered to.\n What we are looking for:Extensive injection mould toolroom experience, ideally 10 years or more.\nApprentice-trained toolmaker.\nSkilled in the use of manual machinery for tooling repairs and modifications (turret mill, lathe and surface grinder).\nAble to read and interpret engineering drawings.\nFlexible and adaptable in approach, with the ability to learn quickly.\nAble to work safely on your own initiative, owning problems and finding solutions.\nA team player who communicates effectively with a range of stakeholders across the business.\nThe role is initially days based, with a view to moving to a shift pattern in the future to help provide 24-hour support to production.\nDesirable experience:Previous rotational moulding, extrusion and PU elastomer pouring experience.\nExperience of crane use to manipulate, strip and assemble large moulds up to 40 tonnes.\nSkilled in the use of CNC milling machines for tooling repairs and modifications.\nBasic electrical knowledge to enable work on heater elements within moulds.\nYou’ll also bring:A meticulous, detail-focused approach without losing sight of the bigger picture.\nA practical, ‘can-do’ mindset and the confidence to get stuck in.\nPride in the quality and reliability of your work.\nThe ability to organise and prioritise planned maintenance alongside reactive repairs.\nA collaborative approach - this is not a “work in isolation” role.\nWhy you’ll love working with us:\nA-SAFE invented the world’s first industrial-strength polymer safety barrier, revolutionising workplace safety, and we’ve been improving world standards ever since - including our next generation RackEye IoT safety device.
