Be Team AAFP.\nThe Association of Family Medicine Residency Directors (AFMRD) exists to inspire and empower family medicine residency leaders to continually pursue excellence in family medicine residency training. The AFMRD envisions a vibrant community of family medicine residency leaders engaged in excellence, collaboration, innovation, and advocacy to meet the needs of current and future family physicians and the health care needs of the public.\nSUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:\nThe AFMRD Communications Strategist develops, implements, and evaluates integrated communication strategies that advance AFMRD's mission, strategic priorities, member engagement goals, and educational initiatives. This position serves as the organization's primary communications professional and is responsible for planning, creating, distributing, and measuring communications across multiple channels, including email, website, newsletters, social media, text messaging, webinars, and member engagement platforms.\nThis role will coordinate communication activities throughout the family medicine residency and graduate medical education (GME) cycle, promoting member value, leadership development programs, educational offerings, governance activities, and organizational impact. The role supports data-driven decision making through communication analytics and Board-level reporting.\nPrimary duties and responsibilities will include\nDevelop and implement annual communications strategy and communications calendar aligned with AFMRD strategic priorities; monitor, analyze, and report communication performance metrics and engagement data; prepare Board reports and dashboards.\nCreate, edit, and distribute content across email, newsletters, social media, SMS, and other channels; manage social media strategy and content development for LinkedIn and Instagram.\nManage member engagement, recruitment, onboarding, retention, and renewal communication campaigns.\nSupport promotion of AFMRD programs, leadership development initiatives, webinars, events, and educational resources; coordinate surveys, member listening activities, and communication-related projects with staff, volunteers, and partners.\nParticipate in bookkeeping and internal control processes for AFMRD projects, and other duties as assigned.\nOther duties as assigned.\nREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:\n4+ years’ experience developing and implementing strategic communications plans\n4+ years’ exceptional written, verbal, and editorial communication skills\n4+ years’ experience managing multi-channel communications campaigns\n4+ years’ experience measuring campaign effectiveness using communication analytics\nStrong project management and organizational skills\nExperience working independently while managing multiple deadlines\nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:\nExperience with membership organizations, associations, nonprofits, healthcare organizations, academic medicine, or higher education\nExperience supporting volunteer leaders, committees, and Boards of Directors\nExperience developing Board-level reports and executive communications\nExperience supporting educational programming, webinars, conferences, or professional development programs\nKnowledge of Graduate Medical Education (GME)\nAt the AAFP we are committed to diversity and creating an inclusive environment for all employees.\nWe are proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
