This position assists with medication preparation, dispensing processes, inventory management, documentation, and patient support activities. All duties are performed in compliance with applicable federal and state regulations, AAAHC accreditation standards, and organizational policies and procedures with the purpose of providing the highest quality pharmaceutical care to Oyáte Health Center (OHC) patients.\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:\nThe following functions are fundamental to the position and are required of all incumbents, with or without reasonable accommodation. These functions define the role and are not an exhaustive list of all duties.\nAssists pharmacists in preparing, packaging, labeling, and dispensing medications, including unit doses, pre- packs, and reconstituted products\nCompounds medications as directed by a pharmacist and within permitted scope, including sterile preparations in accordance with USP 797 and USP 800, where applicable\nPrepares medications for automated dispensing cabinets and ensures accurate delivery and restocking\nSupports curbside medication delivery and prescription mail-out programs in accordance with clinic policy\nContacts patients to notify them when medications are ready for pick-up\nEnsures the use of two patient identifiers (e.g., name and date of birth) during all patient-related activities\nOffers patient satisfaction surveys as part of the clinic’s quality improvement efforts\nDirects all clinical questions or medication counseling requests to a licensed pharmacist\nReceives, stores, rotates, and replenishes medications and pharmacy supplies\nMonitors inventory levels, enters data into pharmacy systems, and generates supply orders\nEnsures proper handling, storage, and documentation of medications, including temperature monitoring\nPerforms routine checks for expired medications and removes outdated products from inventory\nCoordinates reverse distribution processes for credit or reimbursement when appropriate\nEnters medication, cost, and inventory data into pharmacy and billing systems, including perpetual inventory records\nAssists with pharmacy point-of-sale (POS) billing activities and supports pharmacy program billing as directed\nRequests and processes prior authorizations under pharmacist guidance\nMaintains accurate pharmacy records, reports, and logs in compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements\nMaintains working knowledge of pharmacy policies and procedures, including formulary management, refills, eligibility, and mail-out services\nParticipates in compliance with the Vaccines for Children (VFC) Program, as applicable\nSupports quality improvement initiatives, audits, and clinic readiness activities\nComplies with all federal, state, and local regulations, including HIPAA confidentiality requirements\n Maintains the pharmacy and storage areas in a clean, safe, and orderly condition\nPerforms additional duties and special projects as assigned\nServes on organizational committees, teams, or workgroups as requested\nPerforms the core responsibilities of the position accurately, timely, and in accordance with established standards.\nMaintains regular and reliable attendance consistent with the position’s schedule and operational needs.\nCommunicates effectively with internal and external stakeholders as required by the role.\nAdheres to all applicable policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.\nUtilizes required systems, tools, and technology necessary to perform the job.\nMINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:\nHigh school diploma or GED required\nOne (1) year of pharmacy technician experience preferred.\nRegistration as a Pharmacy Technician with South Dakota State Board of Pharmacy upon hire.\nNational Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB)\nAbility to obtain BLS certification upon hire\nMust successfully pass a criminal and background check and a pre-employment drug screen.\nNative American/American Indian Preference in hiring will be applied as defined in title 25 usc 44-46 &474.\nEmployment is contingent upon the outcome of all required criminal background checks and pre-employment drug screen.\nCompliance with our Employee Health Procedure is a condition of employment.
