This role oversees day-to-day operations to maintain a safe, clean, sanitary, and compliant environment that meets regulatory, infection prevention, and patient care standards. The supervisor provides leadership to environmental services staff, supports quality improvement, and collaborates with clinical and administrative teams.\nEssential Functions:\nThe following functions are fundamental to the position and are required of all incumbents, with or without reasonable accommodation. These functions define the role and are not an exhaustive list of all duties.\nSupervision & Leadership\nOversee daily activities of environmental technicians, including task assignments and shift scheduling.\nTrain, coach, and evaluate staff performance to maintain high-quality service.\nEnsure adherence to organizational policies, safety guidelines, and regulatory requirements.\nParticipate in the hiring, training, evaluation, and disciplinary actions.\n Participates in annual budget process to ensure adequate operating supplies, equipment, personnel, and other costs per fiscal year.\nPerforms the core responsibilities of the position accurately, timely, and in accordance with established standards.\nMaintains regular and reliable attendance consistent with the position’s schedule and operational needs.\nCommunicates effectively with internal and external stakeholders as required by the role.\nAdheres to all applicable policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.\nUtilizes required systems, tools, and technology necessary to perform the job.\nFacility Cleaning & Environmental SafetyMonitor and ensure thorough cleaning, disinfection, and waste handling practices across clinics, exam rooms, restrooms, waiting areas, and procedure spaces.\n\nEnsure compliance with infection prevention standards, including proper use of disinfectants and protocols for high-touch surface cleaning.\nConduct routine inspections to verify environmental cleanliness and safety.\nRegulatory ComplianceMaintain compliance with standards set by: \n\nAAAHC \nOSHA\nCDC infection control guidelines\nCMS ambulatory care regulations\nState, local and tribal local health codes\nDocument cleaning processes and maintain logs as required for accreditation and audits.\nQuality Assurance & Process ImprovementDevelop and implement environmental cleaning schedules, checklists, and quality audits.\n\nParticipate in quality assurance and quality performance improvement initiatives.\nCollaborate with infection prevention and quality departments to reduce environmental risk.\nSupply & Equipment ManagementEnsure cleaning equipment is maintained, safe, and operational.\n\nMonitor supply levels and coordinate procurement of materials and PPE.\nManage inventory and ensure proper storage according to safety standards.\nEmergency & Hazard ManagementSupport emergency response protocols, including spills, contamination events, or isolation procedures.\n\nEnsure proper handling, storage, and disposal of regulated medical waste.\nTrain staff on emergency preparedness procedures.\nCommunication & CoordinationServe as primary point of contact between environmental services and clinical leadership.\n\nCommunicate staffing needs, facility concerns, and quality issues promptly.\nThis position requires the ability to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation. Qualified individuals must have relevant experience demonstrating knowledge of basic or commonly used rules, procedures, or operations that typically require completion of training program or one (1) year of relevant experience.\nThe GPTLHB is a tribal organization that follows tribal preference laws.
