Join us and help revolutionize energy for a sustainable future.\nAbout the role\nAalo Atomics is seeking a Nuclear Export Compliance Manager to lead and own the company’s compliance program under the U.S. Department of Energy’s assistance-to-foreign-atomic-energy-activities regulations at 10 C.F.R. Part 810, and related U.S. trade controls. This is a newly created, senior individual-contributor/leadership role reporting to the General Counsel. As Aalo scales its advanced reactor technology across multiple U.S. sites, this person will build the policies, procedures, training, and controls that keep Export Controlled Information (\"ECI\") protected and the company’s disclosures and personnel-access decisions properly authorized.\nThis is a build-and-operate role: you will stand up a program, not inherit a mature one. You will have real authority - including the ability to suspend a disclosure or an individual’s access to ECI pending review - and the organizational backing to use it.\nWhat you'll do\nServe as Aalo’s designated, accountable decision-maker for all Part 810 matters company-wide, with authority to approve, pause, or suspend disclosures of ECI and to suspend individual access to ECI pending review. The General Counsel serves as backup decision-maker.\nOwn authorization of ECI releases: review and approve what information may leave the company and to whom, in coordination with Engineering, which performs the underlying technical ECI determinations. No reliance on email signature disclaimers.\nEstablish and own document-marking standards and release-approval workflows, documenting who reviews, approves, and marks information before any external transfer.\nServe as the company’s single, coordinated point of contact for all communications and reporting to DOE/NNSA. Build the internal reporting process so that required report information (e.g., individual’s name, address, and initial date of ECI access) is captured and routed to you - ending the current practice of employees independently contacting or self-reporting to NNSA.\nBuild and run the export-control training program: onboarding and annual refresher training for all employees, executives, interns, consultants, and contractors within Aalo’s control; department-specific guidance (procurement, engineering, marketing); documented completion tracking; and recurring document-review \"office hours\" for non-urgent questions.\nDesign and enforce the visitor and site-security program across Austin, Georgetown, and Idaho Falls facilities - Foreign National screening, escorts, approved routes, photography restrictions, badging, and preventing ECI exposure on screens, whiteboards, and in lobby/common areas.\nOwn the international-travel approval process: review and approve any travel involving ECI or devices that contain or access it, with precautions for screen visibility, cameras, unattended devices, and loss.\nEstablish and enforce a self-publication / public-release procedure (photos, videos, social media, presentations, podcasts, site tours) in coordination with the General Counsel and patent/IP counsel, so nothing reaches the public without documented approval.\nReinstate and oversee Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) screening and embed it into procurement procedures; define procurement’s export-control responsibilities and required subject-matter-expert review before supplier exchanges.\nOversee import/export licensing compliance for physical equipment (e.g., NRC regulations at 10 C.F.R. Part 110, including the neutron flux monitor sourced from France).\nMaintain a controlled, centralized policy repository and a repository of signed Retransfer Assurance Agreements / NDAs and proofs of citizenship, so actual ECI recipients are reliably tracked.\nPartner with IT and the CISO on controls that keep ECI off non-compliant systems and personal devices - approved transfer environments in place of email, enforced short screen-lock timeouts, device inventory and tracking, and governance of approved vs. personal AI tools.\nConduct periodic internal audits of actual practices and drive a culture of consistent, leadership-backed compliance, eliminating informal overrides and inaccurate guidance (e.g., retiring ad hoc \"cheat sheets\").\nQualifications\nDemonstrated working knowledge of U.S. nuclear export controls under 10 C.F.R. Part 810, and familiarity with related regimes (NRC 10 C.F.R.
