Join us and help revolutionize energy for a sustainable future.\nAbout the Role\nThe Senior Packaging Engineer owns the strategy, design, validation, and continuous improvement of engineered packaging solutions across Aalo Atomics. This role develops robust, scalable packaging for components, assemblies, and equipment throughout their lifecycle-from supplier shipments and internal material movement to domestic and international transportation.\nThe ideal candidate brings strong mechanical design judgment, hands-on packaging development experience, and a rigorous approach to safety, quality, and risk management. You will work cross-functionally to ensure packaging protects critical hardware, enables efficient operations, meets applicable transportation and testing requirements, and supports Aalo’s mission to build advanced nuclear technology.\nHow You Can Make an Impact\nLead packaging projects from requirements and concept through design, validation, release, and implementation.\nDesign protective packaging, reusable containers, dunnage, shipping fixtures, and domestic/international shipping racks.\nApply CAD, technical drawings, datum schemes, GD&T, and tolerance stack-up analysis to packaging designs.\nDefine requirements based on hardware, handling, transportation, storage, operational, and regulatory needs.\nPlan and execute packaging validation, including shock, vibration, drop, compression, and environmental testing.\nPartner with Design, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Logistics, Programs, Quality, and Operations to deliver practical packaging solutions.\nWork with suppliers and fabricators to prototype, qualify, and scale designs.\nCreate packaging specifications, drawings, test plans, work instructions, and bills of materials.\nTrack packaging KPIs-including damage, cost, cycle time, and reuse-and drive continuous improvement.\nQualifications\n5+ years of engineered packaging design, validation, and testing experience in nuclear, energy, aerospace, advanced manufacturing, or another regulated industry.\nBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Packaging, Manufacturing, Industrial Design, or a related field; equivalent exceptional experience considered.\nExperience designing packaging for complex, high-value, fragile, heavy, or safety-critical hardware.\nStrong knowledge of shock, vibration, drop, compression, and environmental testing.\nProficiency in CAD, technical drawings, datum schemes, GD&T, and tolerance-stack analysis.\nKnowledge of machining, welding, fabrication, assembly, and packaging materials including steel, aluminum, composites, wood, corrugate, and foam.\nFamiliarity with ISTA, ASTM, Mil-Spec, and other relevant packaging, transportation, and test standards.\nStrong communication, project-management, risk-assessment, and continuous-improvement skills.\nPreferred Qualifications\nAdvanced degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Nuclear, or a related engineering discipline.\nExperience with ISO transport-package drop and vibration testing standards.\nExperience working with DOE, NRC, or other regulatory bodies.\nExperience protecting pressure vessels, piping, electrical panels, instrumentation, or similar industrial equipment.\nExperience with reusable packaging, export packaging, freight logistics, or hazardous-material shipment considerations.\nRequirements:\nBased in the United States\nWilling to work on-site in Austin, TX\nWhat We Offer:\nCompetitive salary based on technical level \nHealth, Dental, Vision Insurance\nPaid Time Off\nCorporate Gym Membership\nAdditional Information:\nAalo Atomics provides a collaborative and supportive work environment, opportunities for professional growth, intellectually challenging careers, and competitive compensation.
