Join us and help run what runs the world.\nThis position reports to:\nSenior Engineering Manager__\nYour Role and Responsibilities\nIn this role, you will have the opportunity to be a design authority for an engineering discipline. Each day, you will complete assignments on multiple projects of moderate size or portions of bigger projects, to support the development, implementation, and support of Knowledge Manager solutions for industrial customers, primarily serving businesses and projects in Chile across mining, pulp and paper, and other process industries, while providing occasional international support remotely or through travel and strengthening engineering capabilities in industrial digitalization and process industries.\nThe work model for the role is: Hybrid {#LI-Hybrid}\nThis role contributes to the Automation business areain Chile.\n\nYou will be mainly accountable for:\nPerform configuration and development of control applications using 800xA platform tools (Control Builder M, Process Graphics, etc) according to customer documentation and specifications.\nConfigure network infrastructure components including VLANs, IP addressing, and basic network equipment setup for distributed control system integration.\nConfigure and integrate different fieldbus protocols (PROFINET, Modbus, HART, Profibus, etc) and industrial network communications within the 800xA platform.\nConduct interoperability tests and customer acceptance tests (FAT/SAT) in office and field environments.\nPerform technical troubleshooting and problem resolution related to 800xA control platform, networks, and field communications in both office and on-site locations.\n\nMandatory Requirements:\nProfessional Engineering degree in Automation, Electronics Engineering, or Electrical Engineering with specialization in Automation.\nMinimum 3 years of relevant professional experience in process automation, using DCS configurations tools, preferably 800xA\nDemonstrable hands-on experience in DCS control systems, preferably 800xA (minimum 3 years)\nProven track record in system commissioning and startup execution\nAvailability for national and international on-site deployment across shift schedules\nStrong proactivity, exceptional teamwork, continuous self-learning mindset, and self-driven motivation\nSafety-focused approach with commitment to operational excellence\nExperience in mining process automation\nEnglish and Spanish proficiency for independent work, both locally and internationally\nDesirable Requirements\nExperience with cybersecurity principles in control systems and secure-by-design methodologies.\nUnderstanding of HART protocol and smart field device configuration.\nKnowledge of system redundancy, high-availability architectures, and fail-over mechanisms.\nExperience with 800xA libraries and reusable control module development.\nFamiliarity with agile or lean methodologies applied to engineering projects.\nExperience with industrial network troubleshooting and diagnostic tools.\nExposure to ABB 800xA training or certification programs.\nUnderstanding of process monitoring systems and data historian integration.\nNetwork device design and configuration (switches, routers, firewalls, network infrastructure).\nExperience in pulp and paper mill process automation.\nInstrumentation configuration knowledge\nWhat's in it for you?\nOpportunity to build a strong international career within ABB, with exposure to global projects, technologies, and teams.\nStrong technical and professional development through continuous learning, mentoring, and collaboration across ABB’s global organization.\nOpportunity to grow within a global technology company while contributing to high-impact industrial digitalization projects across Chile and internationally.\nBuilding a cleaner, smarter future takes all kinds of minds: the curious, the courageous, and the creative.
