Join us and help run what runs the world.\nThis position reports to:\nEngineering Manager__\nYour role and tasks\nAs a Data Technician Trainee at ABB, you will join our engineering department and work with the System 800xA automation platform. The system supports industrial production and critical infrastructure, where availability, security and energy efficiency are essential.\nYou will take part in projects from start to finish and gain practical experience with customer dialogue, documentation and testing. Your work will combine hands-on technical tasks with structured follow-up to ensure reliable, high-quality solutions. From your first day, you will have a mentor and experienced colleagues who are ready to support your learning. We want you to develop through meaningful assignments and gradually take on more responsibility.\nThe apprenticeship is relevant for students specialising in either cybersecurity or infrastructure, and the start date can be aligned with your education.\nYour responsibilities will include\nAdministering Windows environments, including servers, Active Directory and new installations. \nWorking with virtualisation using VMware. \nServicing and updating existing automation systems. \nInstalling and configuring ABB System 800xA HMI solutions. \nSupporting system hardening, cybersecurity and IT security for critical infrastructure. \nParticipating in projects, customer dialogue and testing from start to finish. \nDocumenting and testing your work to help ensure high-quality customer deliveries. \nQualifications for the role\nYou are enrolled in the Data Technician programme with a specialisation in cybersecurity or infrastructure. \nYou are curious about virtualisation, Windows, domains, Active Directory, network topology and security. \nYou are motivated to learn and develop your technical skills. \nYou are comfortable taking responsibility and moving tasks forward. \nYou seek input from the right colleagues when you need knowledge to complete a task. \nYou can plan your work and deliver as agreed. \nYou understand how to match the quality and scope of a solution to the task. \nMore about us\nAt ABB, we have a clear goal of promoting diversity and inclusion in terms of gender, LGBTQ+, disability, ethnicity, and age.
