All of our Young Talent Programs follow the 70:20:10 Learning and Development Model, which consists of practical experience (70%), asking questions (20%), and classroom learning (10%).\nAs a trainee you will be a part of community, and you will participate in activities with other trainees like taking parts in training to enhance soft & technical skills, meeting project deadlines, and engaging in diverse social and team-building activities to expand your network within ABB.\nYour role and responsibilities\nIn this role, you will have the opportunity to support ABB’s businesses, collaborate with different leaders and teams, and contribute to the company's strategic objectives. Each day, you will gain knowledge by performing tasks as directed by your leader. You will also work toward your career goals by participating in professional development.\nFor the 2025/2026 Intake\nWe are seeking graduates in the following fields:\nElectrical Engineering: You will gain exposure to the testing of switchgear across all areas, including primary, secondary, modular, and commissioning. You will also work with electrical and mechanical designs for switchgear systems.\nMechanical Engineering: You will gain exposure to basic design, drafting, and the electrical and mechanical workings of electric motors.\nControl and Instrumentation: Your exposure will include working with control systems, field instrumentation, and actuators, as well as the design and commissioning of Distributed Control Systems (DCS).\nIndustrial Engineering: You will gain experience in our factory operations, such as performing time studies and improving processes.\nComputer Engineering: You will collaborate across the organization to advance the development and promotion of ABB Ability, helping support the growth of the 4th Industrial Revolution.\nQualifications for the role\nUniversity graduates with no more than 2 years working experience\nEffective English communication skills, both written and oral\nA growth mindset focused on continual learning and improvement\nSouth African citizens only.\nCompleted BSc, BTech, or BEng degree in one of the following fields: Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Industrial, or Computer Engineering.\nHigh-performing students with a minimum average of 65% throughout their studies.\nDemonstrated problem-solving skills, with the ability to think creatively and innovate.\nClear communication and teamwork skills, paired with leadership experience, confidence, and openness to learning\nHow to Apply:\nVisit www.abb.com/careers to submit your application.
