Join us and help run what runs the world.\nThis position reports to:\nGlobal Head IS Enterprise Architecture__\nYour role and responsibilities\nIn this role, you will have the opportunity to define, operate, and continuously improve the enterprise architecture governance framework, standards, and compliance mechanisms. Each day you will ensure architectural consistency, risk reduction, and strategic alignment across ABB’s decentralized operating model, while enabling local autonomy and innovation. You will also act as the custodian of architectural decision making, standards, and guardrails. You will be balancing enterprise coherence with domain and product team agility, making sure that EA rules and practices are embedded into the organization’s operating model. This role has three/ four people reporting into it.\nThe work model for the role is: #Li_hybrid\nYou will be mainly accountable for:\n Architecture GovernanceGoverning and operating the enterprise architecture governance model, including decision rights, escalation paths, and review forums.\nEnsuring architecture choices are transparent, traceable, and aligned with enterprise strategy.\nEmbedding governance into delivery processes (e.g., portfolio, product, and investment lifecycles).\nOverseeing governance boards across the organization and making sure that relevant decentralized governance is in place.\n\n Practice DevelopmentDefining and maintaining EA practice standards, frameworks, and methodologies aligned with industry best practices (e.g., TOGAF) and organizational strategy.\nEstablishing governance processes for architecture reviews, compliance and selection.\nTraining and support for architects and business consumers.\n\n Enablement & Community BuildingDriving initiatives to strengthen the EA community through training, knowledge sharing, and collaboration platforms.\nPromoting adoption of EA tools (e.g., Ardoq) and ensuring effective onboarding and usage across domains.\nActing as a champion for the EA repository and toolset and driving cultural change by fostering a “community-led architecture” mindset.\n\nStandards & Reference ArchitectureOwning and maintaining enterprise architecture standards and policies across business, data, application, technology, security, and integration domains.\n\n Continuous ImprovementMeasuring governance effectiveness using defined KPIs (e.g., reuse, compliance, time-to-decision), continuously improving standards, governance processes, and tooling and staying current with industry best practices and evolving architectural trends.\n\nQualifications for the role\nBachelor’s or master’s degree in information systems, Computer Science, or related field\n8+ years in Enterprise Architecture or related roles, with at least 3 years in practice enablement or governance\nProven experience in implementing EA frameworks, tools, and governance processes in a global organization\nExperience in decentralized, multi-domain, or federated operating models\nStrong understanding of EA domains (business, application, data, technology)\nFamiliarity with architecture modeling tools (e.g., Ardoq, ArchiMate)\nTOGAF or equivalent EA framework certification preferred\nExcellent communication and facilitation skills\nAbility to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels\nStrong governance, risk, and standards management capability\nThis opportunity is open to candidates in multiple countries, with the final work location determined based on the selected candidate.
