Join us and help run what runs the world.\nThis position reports to:\nRegion Field Application Engineer Leader__\nThe successful candidate will operate as the Sr. Field Application Engineer (FAE) for the Electrification business of ABB within the Eastern PA and DE trade areas. In this role, you will be the technical lead at consulting engineer, end user, EPC and design build customers, ensuring ABB products and solutions achieve a preferred/ acceptable manufacturer status in project specifications.\nYou will work closely with the local sales team, and must be proficient applying MV/LV switchgear, switchboards, panelboards, transformers and arc flash mitigation technologies. The scalable solutions aim to deliver significant sustainable and financial benefits, meeting social and environmental demands, while being able to address even the most complex of customers’ carbon reduction strategies.\nYour role and responsibilities:\nCollaborate with consultant, end user, utility and EPC/DBC engineers to define electrical project needs, supply design assistance, product selection, value engineering, budgeting & provide education on ABB solutions to gain acceptance of the same into project specifications.\nBe the local product expert in the following products and applications: MV/ LV switchgear, switchboards, panelboards, transformers, motor control, power monitoring, power/insulated case/ molded case circuit breakers.\nHave a strong knowledge of short circuit, coordination and arc flash mitigation concepts and the ability to illustrate their benefit via tools such as SKM or Easy Power.\nCustomer education - be a strong public speaker; comfortable developing and articulating complex technical concepts to engineers, contractors and users as well as thought leadership - participate and actively engage in the development of papers for IEEE and other industry events/ conferences to raise awareness of ABB solutions.\nBring voice of the customer on new product opportunities, product gaps and market trends to commercial and product management leadership for action.\nQualifications for the role\nB.S. degree in engineering; preferably electrical with a minimum of 8+ years of experience in the electrical distribution industry or a master’s degree in engineering with 4+ years of experience in the same; PE certification is preferred.\nKnowledge of industry codes and standards; ANSI, IEEE, NEC, NEMA, NFPA 70E, UL.\nPrevious field, plant or design engineering in electrical power systems at major oil and gas companies, electric utilities or industrial facilities.\nStrong interpersonal skills.
