Join us and help run what runs the world.\nThis position reports to:\nTeam Leader__\nWe are looking for a Functional Safety Specialist to lead and carry out risk analyses for our customers. The core of the role is HAZOP and LOPA studies, followed by SIL determination and the development of Safety Requirements Specifications (SRS). You will cover the first steps of the safety lifecycle according to IEC 61508 and IEC 61511.\nYou will work on projects of various sizes, mainly in the energy sector (power plants, heating plants, boiler houses), together with experienced engineers and project managers. Your work will have a direct impact on how safely the plants are operated.\n\nWhat you will do\nLead and scribe HAZOP studies - in workshops with the customer, you systematically review the process and identify possible deviations, their causes and consequences.\nPerform LOPA studies - you assess whether existing protection layers are sufficient and, if not, define which Safety Instrumented Functions (SIF) are needed and at what SIL.\nDevelop Safety Requirements Specifications (SRS) according to IEC 61511 as the basis for Safety Instrumented System (SIS) design.\nPerform FMEA for critical equipment when required.\nPresent results to the customer, including explaining risks and recommended measures to plant management.\nWork with process and design engineers to validate analysis results.\nContribute to the development of ABB functional safety consulting services and to maintaining the quality management system.\nWhat you bring\nUniversity degree in a technical field, ideally electrical, power, automation, or chemical and process engineering.\nAt least 3 years of experience in risk analysis, process control or functional safety.\nHands-on experience with HAZOP and LOPA - as facilitator, scribe or active team member.\nKnowledge of the safety lifecycle according to IEC 61508 and IEC 61511.\nUnderstanding of control systems and instrumentation.\nEnglish good enough to lead workshops and write technical reports.\nAbility to explain risks clearly to both engineers and management.\nWillingness to travel, including abroad.\nNice to have\nExperience in developing SRS.\nTÜV Functional Safety Engineer certificate or equivalent.\nKnowledge of power generation equipment (boilers, burners, turbines) and related standards, e.g. EN 50156-1, EN 298, NFPA 85.\nExperience with risk analysis software (e.g. PHA-Pro, exSILentia).\nBenefits\nFlexible working hours\nHome office option with financial contribution\nAnnual financial bonus\n25 days of vacation\nAnnual salary review\nCareer growth opportunities in the Czech Republic and worldwide\nMultiSport card\nMeal allowance\nContribution to a benefits portal (2-3% of monthly salary)\nReferral, anniversary, and retirement bonuses\nLearning opportunities - internal/external technical and language courses, conferences\nCompany events (Christmas party, teambuildings, family days, and more)\nAssistance line - professional psychological support\nExtra leave for special life events and support for expectant parents\nOffice with good transport accessibility\nCompany parking for employees commuting from outside Ostrava (Ostrava branch)\nOn-site yoga classes (Ostrava branch)\nTable football and darts at the workplace (Ostrava branch)\nAccident insurance\nDiscounts on ABB electrical installation materials\nDiscounts with our partners (electronics, gastronomy, car purchases, train travel, etc.)\nThink bigger.
