Join us and help run what runs the world.\nThis position reports to:\nProduction Engineering Manager__\nThe work model for the role is: Onsite #LI-Onsite\nYour role and responsibilities:\nThe Manufacturing Engineer at ABB’s Athens, GA facility delivers daily onsite technical leadership and specialized manufacturing engineering support for CNC machining operations that produce industrial electric motors. This role is responsible for supporting safety, quality, productivity, cost reduction, capacity improvements, process standardization, and continuous improvement across machining operations. The engineer serves as the technical authority for CNC machining processes, tooling strategies, machining technologies, process development, and equipment optimization.\nOur Team Dynamics\nOur teams support each other, collaborate, and never stop learning. Being part of our team means your work matters - because the progress we make here creates real impact out there.\nYou will be mainly accountable for:\nOwn and optimize CNC machining processes for electric motor components, establishing standards, programming strategies, process controls, and manufacturing best practices to ensure safety, quality, productivity, and process capability.\nLead manufacturing readiness and technical execution for new products, engineering changes, tooling, fixtures, automation, and capital equipment projects, including APQP, DFM, commissioning, validation, and startup activities.\nAdvance continuous improvement and operational excellence through data analytics, Lean methodologies, root cause problem solving, and Industry 4.0 technologies to improve OEE, capacity, throughput, quality, and cost performance.\nProvide cross-functional technical leadership by partnering with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain, EHS, and Engineering teams, while mentoring personnel and leading troubleshooting, corrective actions, and strategic improvement initiatives.\nQualifications for the role:\nBachelor’s Degree in Engineering with 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience supporting CNC machining operations in an industrial manufacturing environment, with demonstrated expertise in precision-machined components.\nAbility to deliver process improvements that produce measurable gains in productivity, quality, throughput, and cost reduction.\nExperience leading or supporting capital equipment, tooling, and manufacturing automation projects, including equipment selection, implementation, and process validation.\nSolid technical knowledge in CNC machining, including multi-axis turning and milling, CNC programming and G-code, CAM systems, cutting tool optimization, and fixture/work holding design.\nWorking knowledge of quality and continuous improvement methodologies, including GD&T, precision measurement techniques, statistical problem solving, and Six Sigma principles.\nCandidates must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.\nMore about us:\nABB’s NEMA Motors Division is the global leading electric NEMA motors manufacturer.
