Join us and help run what runs the world.\nYour role and responsibilities In this role, you will have the opportunity to act as the technical lead for all engineering activities in assignments. Each day, you will ensure the activities related to all engineering disciplines within the project are executed in an efficient and cost-effective manner. You will also showcase your expertise by acting as a design authority for a particular engineering discipline and completing the corresponding engineering assignments. The work model for the role is: Hybrid Responsibilities :\nTechnical contribution\nEngineering development\nEvaluates, selects, and applies standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform task or sequence of tasks for conventional projects with few complex features.\nExecutes assignments using established solutions.\n\nAuthorization\nActs as a design authority (if needed) for a particular engineering discipline and completes the corresponding engineering assignments.\nActs as a technical lead and approves design deliverables.\nReviews complete project documents for conformity, safety, cybersecurity, and quality assurance requirements.\n\nConstruction support\nCollaborates on project installation, commissioning, and site activities, to clarify potential issues or provide solutions to rectify the engineering errors.\nProvides technical support to commissioning and start-up activities.\n\nCustomer and Sales\nInteracts with customers, contractors, and suppliers, attends project meetings, and presents all technical aspects of project assignments.\n\nFinalizes the ‘fail-safe philosophy’, “secure-by-design principles”, and other key concepts as part of kick-off and design freeze meetings.\n\nParticipates in project meetings actively and resolves any outstanding technical issues to meet contractual obligations.\n\nAssists in creating proposals for projects through coordinating the proposal documents and engineering estimates.\n\nAssists in performing engineering risk analysis before submitting for project risk review.\n\nTechnical leadership and knowledge sharing\nApplies design thinking or design for excellence concepts in projects, including modelling, prototyping, simulation, and calculations.\n\nCollaborates and networks with engineering colleagues within ABB.\n\nEngages in workshops pertaining to engineering design, tools, and processes.\n\nBuilds knowledge repositories and shares best practices and lessons-learned documentation across different projects and disciplines.\n\nCoaches the project engineers and designers on the translation of conceptual designs to engineering documentation, including modelling, prototyping, and calculations.\n\nPeople Leadership and development\nLeads, supervises, and coordinates teams in all engineering disciplines (both in-house and outsourced) on low complexity projects.\n\nLeads single or multi-discipline engineering teams of less than 10 members.\n\nProcesses and tools\nUtilizes standard processes, tools, and techniques.\n\nEnsures that the engineering activities comply with the safety, cybersecurity regulations and standards, and contractual requirements.\n\nRisk and opportunity management\nEvaluates risks and opportunities and accordingly strategizes mitigation for their engineering projects/programs.\n\nSupports the project manager in overall project risk and opportunity assessments and implementation of resulting actions.\n\nIdentifies opportunities for repeating and new businesses.\n\nContract Management\nEnsures Bill of Materials (BOM) for the project meets the contractual obligations and project gross margin requirements by not generating Project Left-Over Material (PLOM).\n\nNegotiates claims and engineering changes.\n\nSupports project manager / contract manager in issuing claims (new scope of work, cost impact, time impact, risk quantificationsincluding safety and cybersecurity, etc.).\n\nOversees the creation of subcontracts and manages the subcontractors, jointly with other involved disciplines including supply chain management.\n\nPlanning and control\nCreates work plans and cost estimates for the portfolio of projects in consultation with the respective project managers.\n\nEnsures quality and timely implementation of projects within the targeted cost.\n\nCollaboration / Leadership\nWorks closely with project manager right from the receipt of contract/order till closure, to meet the technical requirements of the contract.\n\nLeads, supervises, and coordinates teams in all engineering disciplines (both in-house and outsourced) for assigned projects.\n\nLeads single or multi-discipline engineering teams of less than 10 members.\n\nInteracts with customers, contractors, suppliers and attends project meetings and presents all technical aspects of project assignments.\n\nOversees the creation of subcontracts and manages the subcontractors, jointly with other involved disciplines including supply chain management.\n\nCollaborates on project installation, commissioning, and site activities to clarify potential issues or provide solutions to rectify the engineering errors.\n\n Qualifications for the role\n3-5 years of relevant experience in a similar role.\n\nBachelor’s degree
